It won’t be long before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Walt Disney World…and that also means some changes are happening to prepare for that epic new land. Disney just announced that the Stormtroopers are leaving Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week in light of the grand opening of Galaxy’s Edge next month. And even though some fans may be upset, they won’t have to wait too long before their favorite First Order troops are back in action.
Walt Disney World made the announcement on the official Walt Disney World Today account on Twitter after fans noticed that Match of the First Order, the daytime show in which Stormtroopers and Captain Phasma march through Disney’s Hollywood Studios, was no longer on the performance schedule after July 6. According to WDWToday’s Twitter reply, “To prepare them for the trip to Batuu, the First Order Stormtroopers will return to their Star Destroyer for a short furlough beginning July 7. Guests will once again have an opportunity to interact with First Order Stormtroopers when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens on Aug. 29!” Disney also mentioned that Stormtroopers often seen roaming Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also be leaving the theme park beginning July 7.
The performance schedule change is also reflected on the official Walt Disney World webpage for March of the First Order, which you can see below:
Not to worry, “Star Wars” fans. The First Order may be leaving Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week, but that doesn’t mean you’ll never see them again. As Disneyland guests who have visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on the west coast know, you can encounter Stormtroopers throughout the all-new “Star Wars”-themed land whenever you visit Batuu. So if you’re planning to join the First Order but you’re visiting Walt Disney World after July 7, you can do so at Black Spire Outpost when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens on August 29.
