It’s an undeniably wondrous time to be a Star Wars fan. Between the movies, novels, and comics alone Disney is cranking out new high-quality content faster than many can even catch up with. And the icing on the cake is the animated television series “Star Wars Rebels”, which has been airing on Disney XD for two and a half seasons, and has only improved over that time.
“Rebels” has become the go-to touchstone for anyone who wants a dose of pulse-pounding and emotionally-investing Star Wars goodness on a weekly basis, and the current (third) season has so far proven to be the most involving and rewarding one yet.
Today Disney dropped a mid-season trailer cluing us in on what we can expect from the remainder of season three, and it packs quite a punch, teasing appearances from Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rebel leader Mon Mothma, and the previously-announced extremist Saw Gerrera.
Gererra, who recently made his live-action debut in “Rogue One”, will once again be portrayed by actor Forest Whitaker, and will join our rag-tag band of heroes as they face more trials in their war against the Empire. Of course, we’ll be seeing more of the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn along the way, as well.
“Star Wars Rebels” returns this saturday, January 7th on Disney XD, with an hour-long mid-season premiere entitled “Ghosts of Geonosis”. It certainly looks like it will be quite a ride.
