Construction walls have come down at the Magic Kingdom revealing the gorgeous new grassy areas near Cinderella Castle comprising the Main Street Plaza Gardens.
The Magic Kingdom hub reconstruction has been a work in progress for a long time and we can now finally see the reward for all that work. Opening in sections over the last couple of weeks, two new Main Street Plaza Gardens are now being enjoyed by guests. East and west areas add to a new larger central hub area.
Each Plaza Garden area features bigger walkways to ease congestion, beautiful lawns for relaxation and a new dedicated FastPass+ viewing area for the fireworks show Wishes at night.
New fountains and lighting add that extra touch to the area.
The FastPass+ area is open to everyone during the day, but in the evening it will be used for FP+ holders only, with RFID scanners in place to let in the right guests who have booked in advance.
The loveable character statues that usually surround the Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse Partners statue have been relocated, now found decorating both sides of the Main Street Plaza Gardens.
The new central Hub area is now missing the majority of its trees, instead offering an expansive flat area to allow additional people to enjoy the park’s entertainment. But it also makes the area look a bit empty and bare compared to before.
According to previously released concept art and plans from 2014, the hub should have four planters around the Partners statue, so updates to the Hub may not be fully completed there yet.
But for the most part, this Magic Kingdom improvement project is complete and guests are definitely enjoying the new open, relaxing areas.
