Walt Disney World announces Cinderella Castle plaza expansion with new gardens, more fireworks viewing at Magic Kingdom

More room to spread out is coming to the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World has announced plans to expand the Hub and Central Plaza area of the park in front of Cinderella Castle.

Included in the expanded plaza will be new circular pathways, gardens, more restaurant seating, and new fireworks and parade viewing areas – perfect to integrate with the FastPass+ system. Disney has released a rendering of what the area will look like when complete in 2015:

Seating outside Casey’s Corner and The Plaza restaurant are said to almost double, adding to the new seating recently installed inside Casey’s:

That’s where the biggest change will be noticed, as shown in the comparison between the current satellite image of the park below along with the rendering overlaid on top of it with the changes highlighted in blue:

The Hub expansion project will occur in multiple phases, little by little over the next year or so.
