Though Walt DIsney World just held the grand opening yesterday for the first wing of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort themed to Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” sights are already set for the next section based on “Cars.” Scheduled to open on June 18, 2012, the Cars wing in the new Florida hotel includes many of the same features found in Cars Land at the Disneyland Resort in California, but with even more character.
On hand this morning at the resort were Pixar franchise guardian Jay Ward and car designer Chip Foose, both in town for Car Masters Weekend, beginning tomorrow at Downtown Disney. The pair discussed the details that have been included in the Cars wing, including many photo opportunities with familiar car faces from the film series, such as Mater, Flo, Ramone, and Doc Hudson among others. And after dark, signs for recognizable locations like the Cozy Cone Motel, which is the theme for the area’s pool, light up in bright neon.

Though certainly not of the same design or functional intentions as Cars Land, which features rides, shops, and restaurants in the Disney California Adventure theme park, the Cars wing of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort evokes the same feelings of Radiator Springs as seen in the “Cars” films.
Compare the nighttime shots in the video above with those recently recorded just outside the Cars Land construction walls in the video below:
