On September 21, however, this variability was eliminated entirely. Every ride cycle throughout the day featured the same song, a decision rooted in the track’s lyrical reference to “the 21st night of September.” This marked yet another year Disney has implemented the promotion, establishing it as a recurring fixture within EPCOT’s annual calendar of events.
The soundtrack was not the only element altered for the occasion. A post on X on September 21 confirmed that the attraction’s preshow was also being bypassed for the day. Under standard operations, guests proceed through the Wonders of Xandar pavilion, where narrative context is established for the adventure that follows. With this component removed, the pacing of the overall experience shifted, accelerating guests toward the loading area and eliminating the customary storytelling introduction.
For guests already familiar with the attraction, this adjustment likely had minimal impact, as the narrative content is widely known among repeat visitors. According to data compiled by Queue Times, the posted wait for Cosmic Rewind reached a peak of 185 minutes during the evening hours. Notably, wait times were already substantial at park opening, with rope drop guests reportedly facing a 140-minute wait upon the park’s opening.

The day’s lowest recorded wait time occurred at 10:40 p.m., when the posted wait dropped to 50 minutes. This reduction coincided with EPCOT’s Extended Evening Hours, offered from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. exclusively to guests staying at Disney Deluxe resorts. The diminished overall park attendance during this period resulted in a considerably shorter wait than at other times during the operating day.
In addition to the modified ride experience, Disney introduced a limited-time menu item to further commemorate the occasion. Connections Eatery offered the Supernova Sip, a beverage themed to Guardians of the Galaxy, available exclusively on September 21. This addition extended the celebration beyond the attraction itself, incorporating a dining component into the day’s broader programming.
Collectively, the events of September 21 constituted a distinct departure from Cosmic Rewind’s typical operations, including a fixed soundtrack, an altered preshow structure, elevated demand, and a commemorative food-and-beverage offering. For guests who prefer the Earth, Wind & Fire track, the day offered a guaranteed opportunity to experience their preferred version of the ride without relying on the attraction’s usual randomization.
Operations will return to standard practice on September 22, with the soundtrack rotation and preshow resuming their customary format.
