Disney Store Announces Permanent Closure of Online Shop
As the number of physical Disney Store locations continues to decline, shoppers in the United States and around the world rely on the online storefront to purchase goods they can’t find in person outside the Disney parks. Unfortunately, millions of Disney Store shoppers received an email this week, alerting them to the closure of the online storefronts they rely on for Mickey ears, Spirit Jerseys, Christmas ornaments, and countless other pieces of the most magical merchandise on earth.
The affected online storefronts service Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Malaysia. Both DisneyStore.com.au and DisneyStore.asia will cease operations at the end of the day on September 30, marking the end of an era for millions of shoppers. Orders placed through September 30 will be fulfilled, but shoppers may experience delays due to an expected increase in order volume.
A warning on DisneyStore.com.au, which services Australia and New Zealand, reads:
This change does not affect the following markets: Disney Store Japan, Disney Store United States, Disney Store United Kingdom, Disney Store China, Disney Store Korea, Disney Store Philippines, or Disney Store Middle East. All of those online storefronts will continue to operate normally, even after September 30.

- Sold-out products are not expected to return before September 30.

“Great, so now we either pay ridiculous shipping charges from overseas or get price gouged by resellers on eBay,” @amandaloriansbounty commented. “We invest all this money in our collections and get left in the lurch. Not to mention we don’t get the love like they do in the US as collectors for invites to events etc.”
“Sooooooo disappointed and gutted with today’s email,” said @you.make.me.me. “Sometimes we feel like we don’t count down here.”
The Disney Store did not explain why it ultimately decided to cease online operations across multiple locations worldwide.
