Walt Disney World Resort has installed new transportation barriers for guests hoping to visit the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, or the Magic Kingdom Monorail Resort Area hotels, including Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This update affects Central Florida Disney Park guests parking at the Transportation & Ticket Center.

Over the last few months, there has been much discussion about Magic Kingdom Area Resort hopping. First, Walt Disney World Resort restricted bus and boat transportation at Disney Springs to on-property hotel guests. Then, Disney announced that it would not install the annual life-sized Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in 2026 and, for the first time, Disney Parks Blog stated that holiday decorations are intended for guests staying overnight or with a valid dining reservation at the Disney Resort hotels.

Around the same time, Walt Disney World Resort increased security on the walking path from the Transportation & Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom, which travels through Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Ever since these changes occurred, there have been rumors that Walt Disney World Resort is trying to crack down on the popular practice of Resort hopping–shopping, dining, and exploring on-property hotels during the day.

The latest barriers to Resort Hopping in the Magic Kingdom Area are more literal… On Monday, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had installed taller barriers in the Heroes parking lot at the Transportation & Ticket Center–the only guest parking area for Magic Kingdom Park. Here, guests can take Monorail or boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, & Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The outlet shared a photo exhibiting the difference between the old red barriers and the new blue ones:

The tall blue barriers separate the parking tram lane from the guest parking area. As of right now, they have only been installed on the Heroes side, and not the Villains side.

Walt Disney World Resort has not publicly acknowledged this change at the Transportation & Ticket Center.
