I think Disney is missing the mark. They make $35-55 for parking. When people go to the park they normally spend more than $35 for the parking on food, drinks and souveniers. A family now going to Disney Springs who is staying off resort is likely to bypass going to the park one day and do activities outside of the park, of which there are many. To make up the lost revenue of the $35 for parking at a resort or park a family would have to spend at least $35 in the park or resort which normally happens. Figure if you buy a quick service meal for a family of 4 its around $60-80 and a sit down meal is $150-350. Then if you have 2 kids and they buy a tshirt and plushy that’s another $30-50. Then add in drinks throughout the day and $3.75 for a bottle of water=$12 average. At that point Disney made up the revenue from the lost parking. Disney could have parking tickets at Disney Springs that allows you to park there and park/resort hop for $0 so long as you spend $35 in park/resort, if you don’t then you are charged $35 for the parking. Problem solved.

You might not like the price but then again, that’s why you are you and will never be someone with the intelligence, drive or leadership skills to figure out what someone is willing to pay for a service or product that you provide. Simple. Then there’s the whole it could be free if someone buys this much whatever which would cover the cost of bla bla bla. Sure that works in theory, just like communism, sounds good until you try it. This is where her rant is incomplete and not “problem solved.” You think it’s easy to just miracle a system that can execute that framework she outlined, nope, that cost money, just like maintenance and expansion cost money which is why parking amongst other things there aren’t given away for free. Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s recess time.

We’d regularly either have lunch at DS or a resort, hit the parks, then come back through for treats and shopping. We now have absolutely zero reason to go to Disney Springs as it’s not worth an entire day nor is it worth the extra parking hassle. We can’t be the only ones. Now we leave the resort completely when we leave the parks and have dinner off-site or just head home. They know DS is already not enough of a draw to charge for parking, yet here we are…
