Universal Orlando Resort has quietly rolled out a new feature that gives guests an easy way to recognize employees who make a positive impact during their visit. Whether it’s a Team Member who goes above and beyond to help a family, creates a memorable interaction, or simply brightens someone’s day, guests can now send that appreciation directly through the Universal Orlando app using a new “Fist Bump” feature.

The addition may seem simple at first glance, but it reflects a growing focus across the theme park industry on celebrating the employees who help create unforgettable vacations. Disney has offered a similar recognition program for years, and now Universal is giving its guests an easy way to do the same.

How Universal’s New Fist Bump Feature Works

The new recognition tool is built directly into the Universal Orlando Resort app, making it easy for guests to access during or after their day in the parks.

To find it, guests simply scroll to the bottom of the app’s main page. Under the “Helpful Tools” section, they’ll see a new option labeled “#UOFistBump.” Selecting that opens a form where guests can submit a message recognizing a Team Member who provided exceptional service.

The form asks for several pieces of information, including:

  • The guest’s information
  • The Team Member’s name
  • Where the interaction took place
  • A personal message describing what happened

Once everything is filled out, guests simply submit the message through the app.

While the process only takes a minute or two, it gives guests an opportunity to recognize employees who often work behind the scenes to make vacations smoother and more enjoyable.

Great Guest Service Often Goes Unnoticed

Theme park vacations involve thousands of employees working together every day.

Ride operators keep attractions moving efficiently. Custodial teams help parks stay clean despite enormous crowds. Food and beverage workers prepare countless meals, while hotel employees answer questions, solve problems, and help guests navigate their vacations.

Many of those interactions last only a few moments, but they can completely change a guest’s day.

Maybe a Team Member helped reunite a family after someone got separated. Perhaps an employee noticed a disappointed child and found a way to create a memorable moment. Sometimes it’s simply someone taking extra time to answer questions or help a first-time visitor understand how something works.

Those moments rarely receive public attention, yet they’re often what guests remember most after returning home.

Universal’s new feature gives visitors a quick way to acknowledge those experiences.

Disney Has Offered Something Similar for Years

While the “#UOFistBump” feature is new for Universal Orlando, Disney guests may find the concept familiar.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland have long encouraged guests to submit Cast Compliments through the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps. Universal’s new system closely mirrors that idea by allowing guests to recognize employees directly through the resort’s official app.

Disney’s Cast Compliment program has become popular among frequent visitors because it offers an easy way to thank Cast Members who go above and beyond.

Rather than only sharing positive experiences on social media, guests can send recognition through Disney’s own system, allowing those compliments to reach the company directly.

Many Disney fans even make it a tradition to submit multiple Cast Compliments during every vacation after receiving exceptional service.

Universal’s decision to introduce a comparable feature isn’t surprising. As both companies continue investing in their guest experience, recognizing employees has become another way to reinforce the importance of outstanding customer service.

Small Gestures Can Mean a Lot

Working at a major theme park isn’t always easy.

Team Members spend long days outdoors in Florida’s heat, answer countless guest questions, manage ride queues, handle complaints, and help solve unexpected problems throughout the day.

Most interactions happen without fanfare. Guests may appreciate the help they receive but never have an easy way to share that appreciation afterward.

Digital recognition tools help bridge that gap.

A short message from a grateful family can serve as meaningful feedback for an employee and may also provide managers with examples of exceptional guest service taking place throughout the resort.

Although Universal hasn’t shared specific details about how submitted Fist Bumps are used internally, recognition programs like these generally allow companies to celebrate employees who consistently receive praise from guests.

Technology Continues to Expand Inside Theme Parks

The Universal Orlando app has steadily become a central part of the guest experience.

Visitors already rely on it for attraction wait times, park maps, mobile food ordering, hotel information, and planning their day. Adding employee recognition expands the app beyond simple trip planning by creating another way for guests to interact with the resort.

It’s also part of a broader trend across the theme park industry.

More services that once required visiting Guest Services or filling out paper forms now happen entirely through mobile apps. From ordering meals and checking wait times to managing vacation plans and now recognizing employees, smartphones continue becoming an essential tool during a day at the parks.

As Universal continues expanding with Epic Universe and updates across its Orlando destination, adding quality-of-life features like this can make the overall guest experience even smoother.

A Positive Addition for Universal Guests

Not every new app feature needs to be flashy to make a difference.

Universal’s new “#UOFistBump” option gives guests a convenient way to thank the Team Members who help create memorable vacations. Whether someone spends extra time helping a confused family, delivers exceptional service at a restaurant, or simply makes a guest smile during a long day in the parks, those moments can now be recognized with just a few taps inside the app.

Disney has shown for years that guest recognition programs can become a popular part of the vacation experience, and Universal now appears to be following a similar path.

For guests, it’s an easy way to express gratitude. For Team Members, it could mean receiving well-deserved recognition for the work they do every day. And for Universal Orlando, it’s another step toward reinforcing the guest service that plays such a major role in every successful theme park vacation.
