Walt Disney World Resort has replaced the very top of the Haunted Mansion attraction at Magic Kingdom Park. This is the latest update in an ongoing exterior refurbishment project that has forced guests to enter a version of the Liberty Square ride covered in scaffolding and a themed scrim.
Latest Haunted Mansion Update at Magic Kingdom Park

On June 24, WDWNT reported that Disney had replaced the traditional finish on the cupola – the round structure at the very top of the roof – of the Haunted Mansion. Before the themed scrim fabric surrounded the Liberty Square attraction, the cupola was the same brown-beige color as the exterior building walls. Now, that color appears to be a contrasting shiny, dark metal.
The new dark metal has the same green patina tint as the roof of the Haunted Mansion before the exterior refurbishment began. However, the roof is still covered in scaffolding and a scrim, so it’s unclear whether that color will remain the same when construction is complete.

Scaffolding now surrounds the chimneys on the right side of the Haunted Mansion, suggesting that ongoing refurbishment work is focused there.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t shared any updates on its plans for the Haunted Mansion, which has been undergoing an exterior refurbishment for several months. A steel framework recently appeared on a nearby building, which was often used as an extension of the attraction queue.

The Haunted Mansion ride is still open and welcoming guests. Disney appears to be extending the rear exterior facade of the attraction as it develops the new Cars (2009)-themed Piston Peak National Park in Frontierland, suggesting that what was once a backstage part of the Haunted Mansion may be visible to Magic Kingdom Park guests when the new Frontierland area opens.
