The National Weather Service issued an urgent warning for the Walt Disney World Resort area on Wednesday afternoon. Here’s what guests visiting the Central Florida Disney parks need to know.
Urgent Weather Warning For Walt Disney World On Wednesday

On June 24, the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, issued an urgent special weather statement for Orange and Osceola counties, which includes the Walt Disney World Resort area. Moderately strong thunderstorms are expected in the area, including wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour and pea-sized hail.
The NWS writes that “gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around insecure objects,” and “minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.” X (formerly known as Twitter) user @WDWActiveCrime shared the warning on Wednesday afternoon:

This special weather statement remains in effect until 2:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 24. The NWS listed the strong thunderstorm as “moderate” severity and confirmed that radar reports indicated that it was “expected” to occur.
When Disney Park Guests Should Take Action

Walt Disney World Resort guests are encouraged to take shelter indoors during severe thunderstorms at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Disney may close outdoor attractions or cancel entertainment offerings impacted by severe rain, wind, or lightning in the area.
