Marvel is officially rolling out Spider-Man: Brand New Day in a different way than expected.
Tom Holland returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, his first solo outing since Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, which united multiple Spider-Men and ended with the world forgetting Peter Parker existed. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and will see Peter living a solitary life after the events of the previous movie.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives as Marvel Studios builds toward the end of the Multiverse Saga. The movie is currently set for release on July 31, 2026, placing it ahead of major crossover events and giving Holland another central role before Avengers: Secret Wars closes out the current era.
That rollout plan, however, is no longer the same worldwide.
Marvel Changes ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Release Strategy
Sony Pictures has confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will open early in several international markets, shifting away from its previously unified July 31 release strategy.

Sonyās official regional accounts confirmed Germany and the Philippines will now debut the film on July 29, 2026. Other territories, including Italy, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Ukraine, are also expected to begin screenings on July 30 through staggered international launches.
The United States is still keeping its July 31 premiere date. Most remaining territories are also expected to follow that schedule unless further rollout changes are announced closer to release.

Notably, the film has secured a China release ā something its predecessor failed to do, in part because its climax takes place on the Statue of Liberty.
Marvel and Sony have used this release pattern for years. International audiences frequently receive MCU movies ahead of North America, in part to build momentum before domestic openings.
The strategy dates back to 2008ās Iron Man, which opened overseas before launching in the United States days later. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were rare exceptions, with Marvel opting for simultaneous global debuts to avoid massive online spoilers.

Spider-Man films have regularly followed the earlier international release model. Spider-Man: HomecomingĀ (2017) reached parts of Europe before its U.S. launch, and Spider-Man: Far From Home premiered in select overseas territories ahead of America as well.
Spider-Man: No Way Home followed the same structure in 2021. The movie opened in countries including the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and South Korea before arriving in the United States two days later. It eventually became one of the highest-grossing movies in history.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day also spent much of production in the United Kingdom. Filming took place across Glasgow, which doubled as New York City, alongside shoots in London, Surrey, and at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. Streets including Bothwell Street and St. Vincent Street were transformed for large-scale action scenes.

Tom Holland previously described the production as a return to āold-school filmmakingā (via Deadline) after No Way Home relied heavily on soundstage work during the pandemic. Set footage from Glasgow later showed tanks, explosions, and practical stunt sequences filmed throughout the city.
Brand New Day arrives ahead of Marvel’s next major team-up event. Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled for December 18, 2026, bringing Robert Downey Jr. back to the franchise as Doctor Doom following his Iron Man exit. Also returning is Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, despite the character’s exit inĀ Avengers: Endgame.
That film will then lead directly into Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set for December 17, 2027. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has repeatedly positioned Secret Wars as the culmination of the Multiverse Saga and one of the studioās biggest crossover events yet.
