As of Sunday, March 8, The Walt Disney Company has indefinitely shelved a show starring Captain Jack Sparrow. This installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise would not have starred Johnny Depp as the iconic swashbuckling adventurer.

Jack Sparrow Show Canceled

Theme park and travel journalist Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) is one of many reporters, bloggers, and influencers on a press voyage of the newest Disney Cruise Line vessel, Disney Adventure.

The Mouse purchased the largest-ever ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet after it was nearly built and abandoned in a German warehouse when its original owner went bankrupt. Disney reimagined the ship, welcoming the opportunity to expand into the Asian market. It will embark on its maiden three-and four-night voyages from Singapore this year.

The Disney Adventure features several state-of-the-art entertainment offerings inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney, Pixar, Duffy and Friends, and more. Unfortunately, though, one of the shows that Disney Cruise Line originally promised for the ship has been abruptly canceled.

According to Gustin, the “Captain Jack Sparrow & The Siren Queen” show has been pulled from the entertainment lineup, with no plans to return.

Update: “Captain Jack Sparrow & The Siren Queen” is no longer part of the entertainment lineup on the Disney Adventure. And at this time, there are no plans to offer the show on the ship in the future.

“Captain Jack Sparrow & The Siren Queen” was set to be performed in the Disney Imagination Garden, the open-air internal courtyard on the Disney Adventure. The show would have featured the mischievous pirate and his crew searching for treasure while facing harrowing dangers, such as mermaids and giant squids.

A theatrical performance features actors dressed as pirates on stage with a large background of a mermaid underwater. The set includes a pirate flag and marine-themed elements. An audience is visible at the bottom.

Disney Cruise Line has not said why the Pirates of the Caribbean show was removed from the Disney Adventure lineup. Guests planning to sail on the ship should not expect to see this entertainment offering.
