A familiar face has gone missing from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean.

While Disneyland is full of iconic rides and attractions, nothing may be more legendary than Pirates of the Caribbean. Filled with dozens of animatronics, impressive show scenes, and catchy music, Pirates of the Caribbean has delighted and dazzled guests for decades.
The ride has remained mostly the same over the years, undergoing key changes from time to time. One of the most significant updates to the ride came in 2018 when the iconic bride auction scene was replaced with a new, more family-friendly scene at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Smaller updates occur from time to time too, but rarely does a pirate actually go missing.
After noticing he had vanished from his spot in the ride, one guest went to Reddit to ask where a certain pirate went. This pirate is usually manning a cannon, but was reportedly removed over the last few days.

The pirate figure likely needed some repairs or maintenance, though it’s still weird that characters can just go missing from time to time. Thankfully, Captain Jack and Barbossa are still sailing the high seas in the ride.
There’s a lot planned for Disneyland Resort in the coming years. The Walt Disney Company laid out most of its cards on the table during its D23 event last August. During the conference, Disney announced a number of exciting projects for its Florida theme park resort, ranging from new attractions to overhauls of classic areas.
Work is beginning on these projects now, meaning parks like Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios are all covered up with construction.
This construction doesn’t end in Orlando, though, with several exciting things also planned for Disneyland in Anaheim. At the top of this list is a new take on Pandora – The World of Avatar.
This highly detailed and immersive land based on the Avatar franchise debuted in 2017 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and has been a huge hit ever since. A West Coast-version of the land had long been rumored, with Disney confirming its plans on stage at D23 in 2024.
Disneyland’s Avatar land will be found at Disney California Adventure park. To make room, a few things will close, namely Monsters Inc. Mike and Sully to the Rescue, a family-friendly dark ride. The attraction will close permanently in early 2026, at which point the first phase of construction will begin on Disneyland’s Avatar expansion.
