On May 22, Universal Orlando Resort opened its third, and possibly its most anticipated, theme park to date — Epic Universe. Epic Universe portals guests to five different immersive lands — Celestial Park, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD.

Since previews began back in March, visitors have praised Universal for its attention to detail, the stunningly lifelike audio animatronics, mouthwatering dining options, and amazing attractions.

Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Yoshi pose happily in a colorful Super Nintendo World setting, reminiscent of the adventurous Tom Sawyer Island Magic Kingdom, with vibrant Nintendo-themed backgrounds and props.

While the theme park as a whole is getting a lot of attention and praise, some aspects of Epic Universe are getting highlighted more than others.

Fans are loving nearly everything about Dark Universe, from its Monsters Unchained attraction to its burning windmill, vampire dining experience at Das Stakehaus, and snacks like Hunter’s Garlic Stake and burning cheddar bites.

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry attraction has added new features since opening, and guests are loving the experience, saying it is the best screen-based attraction they’ve ever seen.

However, many guests seem to agree that the best land in the new theme park is How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Guests cannot get enough of meeting some of their favorite characters from the popular franchise, including Toothless, Hiccup, Astrid, Stormfly, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and the adorable Little Dragon “Pouncer.”

Isle of Berk has had such an impact on guests that it is quickly becoming a place where couples want to celebrate their love in unique ways.

One couple is going viral for their memorable proposal at a character meet and greet. While proposals are not all that uncommon, it is the characters priceless reaction that has everyone glowing.

Did you see Toothless’ reaction in the corner? He seems as surprised as the young woman getting proposed to! It made a memorable moment even that much more special.

And there was one couple who took their love for each other and the How to Train Your Dragon franchise to the next level. They traveled to Isle of Berk and eloped!

Erin and Tim Aimes visited Epic Universe during its preview days, and they decided to recreate Hiccup and Astrid’s wedding.

It is important to note that Universal does allow events like elopements inside all of its theme parks, but guests who do elope must make sure that they are not blocking traffic, and guests can get around them. Erin even said that many Universal team members even paused what they were doing and watched the happy couple’s nuptials.

Disney and Universal theme parks do allow engagements and have become very popular spots for such events. However, unlike Universal, Disney does NOT allow elopements inside the theme parks. But maybe with how popular Epic Universe is sure to become for such events, Disney might consider making some changes.

Do you think its a great idea to elope in a place like Isle of Berk, or maybe even The Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Would you get married at Disney or Universal? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
