In 1989, Disney released a movie that would become one of its most popular and beloved princess movies of all time, The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel, a mermaid who dreams of living on the surface and being human. She becomes even more determined to live where the people are when she saves a man named Eric from a shipwreck.
Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch, Ursula. Ariel becomes a human and has three days to make Eric fall in love with her. They do fall in love, but Ursula is determined to destroy their happily ever after.

The Little Mermaid was so successful that Disney quickly began incorporating the film into its theme parks. And, in 1992, a stage show called Voyage of The Little Mermaid opened at what was then Disney’s MGM Studios at Walt Disney World Resort.
Over the years, Voyage of The Little Mermaid became one of the more controversial attractions in the theme park, as the show’s quality diminished over the years.
Then, in 2020, Voyage of The Little Mermaid, along with the rest of Walt Disney World Resort, was forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the show never reopened.
