Dole Whip is one of Walt Disney World Resort’s most iconic and beloved snacks, but one Disney Park guest recently warned others to avoid the dairy-free frozen treat.

Dole Whip is a pineapple soft serve available throughout the Central Florida Disney parks. Guests can try Dole Whip soft serve, Dole Whip floats, and other flavors of dairy-free fruity soft serve in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park, Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney Springs, and seasonally at other locations.

Unfortunately, one Disney Park guest was turned off of Dole Whip last week when they allegedly contracted food poisoning from the frozen treat. Redditor u/PeoriaNative1 warned other Disney Parks fans that two family members had gotten the potentially deadly illness after eating the soft serve from Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

“If you had a pineapple dole whip from Pineapple Lanai at the Polynesian around 1245 you probably had something spoiled,” the guest wrote on Wednesday. “By the time I finished it I didn’t feel right and have had chills and projectile vomiting since 4pm and now just dry heaving every 15 minutes.”

Some Disney Parks fans noted that food poisoning isn’t usually a result of someone’s most recent meal or snack. Additionally, stomach viruses like norovirus run rampant at tourist destinations, including Walt Disney World Resort.

“Food poisoning generally doesn’t take effect that quickly,” said u/vvtim. “If you were feeling sick immediately after eating the dole whip it was likely from something you ate earlier than that.”

“I’m convinced like 90% of the ‘food poisoning’ posted on here is noro,” u/kheret added.

However, the guest insisted after “investigating” that the Dole Whip was contaminated.

“Based on what I ate up to that point it was definitely the dole whip,” they added. “…I started getting really sick around 430, my wife around 8pm. So far nothing from the kids. Hopefully will bounce back quick and not ruin the whole rest of our trip.”

Other Disney Parks fans thanked the guest for the warning.

“Well I guess I’m not getting that tonight,” u/TheLastGunslinger commented. “Hope you feel better!”

If you believe a food or beverage at the Disney parks made you sick, it’s best to notify Guest Services so they can investigate any possible contamination.
