Much like its competitor, Walt Disney World, the Universal Olrando Resort features a wide range of theme park experiences. From classic dark rides to thrilling roller coasters, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during a trip to Universal Orlando. Universal guests have the chance to explore Universal’s Islands of Adventure as well as Universal Studios Florida, each of which features its own catalog of rides and attractions as well as food and entertainment options. However, much like Walt Disney World, just a few miles away, Universal Orlando also features its very own water park for guests to enjoy.

Universal’s Volcano Bay water park is a great alternative for guests looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Universal Orlando’s two theme parks. At Volcano Bay, guests can enjoy some thrilling water slides and attractions, as well as some spectacular scenery and theming, all centered around a massive, 200-foot-tall volcano named Krakatau. The park is home to some exhilarating rides, like the Krakatau Aqua Coaster, Ko’okiri Body Plunge, and the Puihi Round Raft Ride, just to name a few.

Universal Studios Limits Theme Park Access

Unfortunately, guests wishing to experience Volcano Bay on Wednesday, April 3, are out of luck, with the theme park reaching capacity for the day. This was confirmed in a Twitter post by @magiccitymayhem

No Bay, Jose.

A digital sign at the resort’s entrance reads “Volcano Bay at Capacity” in all caps, notifying guests about the crowd levels. This is something all theme parks do in their own unique ways, with the Disneyland Paris Resort in France recently sending out messages and placing signs indicating the resort is full. It’s always unfortunate when a theme park is full, resulting in some guests being left out. However, as the summer slowly approaches, both Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World Resorts will only get more and more crowded.

Universal’s Volcano Bay water park is rather finicky and has closed multiple times over the last several months due to inclement weather. Volcano Bay debuted in 2017 and has since become one of Orlando’s most popular theme parks, joining the ranks of Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Alongside Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, Volcano Bay stands tall (literally), offering guests one of the most fun and thrilling experiences in Florida.

In 2025, the Universal Orlando Resort will expand even further with the addition of Epic Universe. This massive new expansion will act as the resort’s third major theme park, and will bring a plethora of new rides and attractions along with it. Epic Universe is expected to debut sometime in the summer of next year, and excitement from fans is at an all-time high. Epic Universe will feature some of the world’s biggest and most recognizable brands and franchises, like Super Mario. Epic Universe will also feature a brand new version of Unversal’s infamous Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Have you ever been to Universal’s Volcano Bay water park?
