Dozens of Disney Channel alums have gone on to have fulfilling lives, sometimes even becoming entertainment icons like Miley Cyrus, Bella Thorne, and Selena Gomez. However, some people take other routes, like Good Luck Charlie star Bridgit Mendler, who recently announced that she and her husband, Griffin Cleverly, have adopted a son.

“The other news I wanted to share is I’m a mama to a sweet [4-year-old] boy. Started fostering in 2021 adopted near Christmas of 2022. I’m so lucky — being a parent is the biggest gift and most defining experience there is.”

She ended her post by saying, “That’s my news for now, folks.” This goes hand-in-hand with her other major announcement: that she is the CEO of a brand-new space start-up.

Before announcing her son, Bridgit Claire Mendler announced something even more unexpected. The Wizards of Waverly Place star initially followed the typical path for Disney Channel Alumni: actress, entertainer, and singer-songwriter. However, she soon shifted from entertainment to science, earning a graduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on improving social media.

On February 19, 2024, Mendler announced on X (formerly Twitter) that she was now the CEO of Northwood Space, a company dedicated to building ground satellite stations to send data to space.

“At [Northwood Space], we have our sights on building a data highway between Earth and space. We are designing shared ground infrastructure from first principles to expand access to space.

We have a lot of work ahead of us but that’s the fun part. If you like building quickly and seeing your work deployed in locations around the globe with real impact, we want you at Northwood.

While this marks a path away from the entertainment she was known for, Mendler’s fanbase has only grown more robust, with one X user declaring that she has the “most impressive resume I’ve ever seen.” Another said, “She is Barbie. 12 different careers. Singer/songwriter, actress, Harvard doctorate of law recipient, MIT PhD student, CEO of a start-up…”

Now, Bridgit Mendler is also adding motherhood to that list. Is there anything she can’t do?
