Disney castles around the world may all serve the same basic purpose, but the experiences hidden inside them vary dramatically. Disneyland has Sleeping Beauty Castle, while Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland both feature Cinderella Castle. Disneyland Paris has its own Sleeping Beauty Castle, with galleries above and a dragon below.
Hong Kong Disneyland is home to the one-of-a-kind Castle of Magical Dreams – which replaced its previous duplicate of Anaheim’s castle in 2020 – while Shanghai Disneyland has the much larger Enchanted Storybook Castle, through which guests can ride Voyage to the Crystal Grotto. Several Disney castles also contain shops, restaurants, walkthroughs, and character experiences.
One of those experiences is now entering its final weeks.
Cinderella Castle Attraction Closes in 20 Days
Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall will close at Tokyo Disneyland on October 1, 2026. September 30 is its final confirmed operating day, leaving guests just 20 days to explore the attraction before it disappears from the park lineup.
Located inside Cinderella Castle, the self-guided walkthrough takes guests through rooms inspired by Cinderella (1950). Displays include paintings, dioramas, artwork, a throne room, and a recreation of Cinderella’s glass slipper.
The attraction opened in 2011, replacing the former Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour, which closed in 2006. That experience was considerably darker, guiding guests through scenes involving Disney villains, including the Horned King from The Black Cauldron (1985).
Tokyo Disney Resort currently lists Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall as closed from October 1 through “TBD.” No reopening date has been announced, and Disney has not explained the closure or confirmed whether changes are planned inside.
The shutdown will not necessarily make Cinderella Castle completely inaccessible. Guests should still be able to use its lower passage, home to five large mosaics depicting Cinderella’s story and made from more than 100,000 pieces of Venetian glass.
The Glass Slipper shop also remains listed inside the castle. What guests will lose is access to the upper rooms and the walkthrough experience that has occupied them for 15 years.
Tokyo Disney Resort Is Changing Elsewhere, Too
Cinderella Castle is not the only part of Tokyo Disneyland facing changes. Dumbo the Flying Elephant remains closed through October 22, while The Happy Ride with Baymax will close from September 15 through September 29.
The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents “Aloha E Komo Mai!” is also scheduled to close from September 24 through October 23.
Much bigger changes are underway in Tomorrowland. Tokyo Disney Resort has confirmed that Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, a new Wreck-It Ralph attraction (and Disney’s first-ever), will open in spring 2027 alongside a new store called Pixel Prism.
Later in 2027, the resort will debut Space Mountain Earthrise, an all-new indoor roller coaster replacing the original Space Mountain, which was closed and demolished in 2024. The surrounding Tomorrowland area is also being extensively redeveloped.
Tokyo DisneySea is changing as well. Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull is undergoing lengthy renovations, having shuttered last summer, and is scheduled to resume operations on November 30.
For Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall, however, there is still no return date. Unless Disney provides an update before October, September 30 will be the last chance to explore the upper levels of Tokyo Disneyland’s Cinderella Castle for the foreseeable future.
