Since early 2026, Walt Disney World Resort has been developing a new ferryboat dock at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park. Let’s take a look at the latest update on this construction at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

In February, Walt Disney World Resort filed a construction permit to build a new ferryboat dock outside the Magic Kingdom. The new loading and unloading area would increase capacity for guests traveling to and from the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC), particularly after Disney introduces a fourth ferryboat to its Seven Seas Lagoon fleet: the Meg Gilbert Crofton, named after a former president of Walt Disney World Resort.

Florida’s state water management district approved the construction project in March, giving Walt Disney World Resort the green light to begin construction on the new ferryboat dock at Magic Kingdom Park. Plywood barriers appeared at the site earlier this summer, and construction equipment slowly began rolling in.

On August 26, WDWNT shared the most recent photo of the ferryboat dock construction site at Magic Kingdom Park. On Wednesday, Walt Disney World Resort construction crews seem to have cut and installed multiple wood pillars after the timber first appeared on site earlier this month. Wooden joists connect the new pillars to an existing walkway.

The outlet also noted that a large barge that had previously carried an excavator had disappeared from the construction site. It’s unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort is finished with the kind of major construction that would require an excavator.

Walt Disney World Resort has not said exactly when the new ferryboat dock will debut at Magic Kingdom Park. The new Meg Cilbert Crofton vessel is expected to join the fleet sometime in 2027.
