Walt Disney World Resort is pressing full steam ahead with the next steps in an ongoing construction project in the Canada World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. Here’s what to know before your next vacation to the Central Florida Disney parks.
Canada World Showcase Pavilion Construction at EPCOT

In early August, construction walls appeared near the iconic waterfall in the Canada World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. Walt Disney World Resort didn’t share any information about the project, which appeared to be some kind of refurbishment.
The Central Florida Disney vacation destination still hasn’t issued a public statement about the work, but recent developments appear to confirm that cast members are refurbishing the waterfall. On August 11, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had installed new construction materials behind the aforementioned brown construction walls and shared this photo on social media:
New scaffolding, some covered with scrim fabric, stretches across the rockwork beside and behind the waterfall in the Canada World Showcase Pavilion. The water is currently turned off, exposing how much grayer and worn the rockwork constantly exposed to water is than the brown rocks nearby.

Although Disney hasn’t shared its plans for the waterfall area, construction crews are likely to repaint both the water-exposed rocks and those surrounding the waterfall. However, according to WDWNT, it is more difficult to refurbish this area than others at the Central Florida Disney parks because many of the plants around the waterfall are real, and root systems complicate construction and maintenance.
The main attraction in this EPCOT World Showcase Pavilion, Canada Far and Wide, remains open throughout this refurbishment project. The accessible entrance is blocked by the construction project, but guests who need an accessible entrance can enter via the attraction’s exit. Ask a Disney cast member for help.
