Construction walls have become almost as common as the pavilions themselves, with Disney quietly tackling refurbishment projects across multiple countries while keeping the park open to guests.
Now, another section of World Showcase has temporarily disappeared behind construction walls.
The latest project is taking place in the Canada Pavilion, where Disney has closed a popular walkway as work continues in one of EPCOT’s most scenic areas.
Construction Walls Arrive at the Canada Pavilion
Disney guests visiting EPCOT this week will find construction walls blocking the pathway between Le Cellier Steakhouse and the Canada Far and Wide theater. While both attractions remain open, the shortcut connecting them is temporarily unavailable as work gets underway behind the scenes.
The walls stretch across both entrances to the path, making it clear that this isn’t just a small maintenance project.
Walt Disney World Resort has not announced exactly what is being refurbished, but the location suggests the work could involve the walkway itself or the surrounding rockwork that serves as one of the defining features of the Canada Pavilion. The towering stone formations, waterfalls, and landscaping create one of the most immersive environments in World Showcase, making regular upkeep especially important.
Thankfully, guests can still access both Le Cellier Steakhouse and Canada Far and Wide through alternate routes. It’s only the connecting pathway that’s currently closed.
Canada Has Already Been Busy
This isn’t the first time the Canada Pavilion has seen work, especially over the last few months.
Over the course of this year, Disney has completed other refurbishment projects throughout the pavilion, continuing its long-term effort to keep World Showcase looking its best. While most of these projects have had little impact on guests, they reflect Disney’s ongoing approach of refreshing smaller areas before they become larger maintenance issues.
Rather than closing an entire pavilion, Disney has typically opted to tackle individual pathways, landscaping, façades, and infrastructure one section at a time.
It’s an approach that minimizes disruption while allowing EPCOT to maintain the detailed environments that make each country unique.
World Showcase Has Been Filled With Construction
Canada is hardly alone.
World Showcase has experienced a steady stream of refurbishment projects throughout the past few years, with construction activity moving from pavilion to pavilion.
One of the biggest projects wrapped up in Morocco, where Disney completed a more extensive refurbishment that affected portions of the pavilion for an extended period. The work refreshed several visible areas while preserving the detailed architecture that makes Morocco one of EPCOT’s most distinctive destinations. It was completed in 2024.
Elsewhere around the lagoon, guests have also encountered temporary construction and refurbishment work in Germany, France, Mexico, and other pavilions as Disney continues routine maintenance across the park.
Most of these projects have been relatively small in scope, often focusing on pavement, building exteriors, landscaping, or infrastructure hidden beneath guest walkways. Even so, frequent EPCOT visitors have become accustomed to finding at least one construction zone somewhere around World Showcase.
While there have been rumors for quite some time that Disney may add a pavilion to EPCOT, there has been no construction activity or permits filed to suggest that an addition to the World Showcase is coming anytime soon.
A Different Kind of EPCOT Transformation
Unlike the massive overhaul that reshaped the front half of EPCOT over the past several years, these current projects aren’t introducing new attractions or dramatically changing the park.
Instead, they’re focused on preserving what already exists.
World Showcase is approaching four decades of daily operation, and its intricate architecture, stonework, gardens, bridges, and pathways require constant maintenance to withstand Florida’s intense sun, heavy rain, and millions of annual visitors.
Many of these refurbishments happen quietly, with Disney rarely announcing them unless they affect a major attraction or dining location.
That means guests often discover new construction walls only after arriving at the park.
More Projects Are Likely Ahead
With construction wrapping up in some countries and beginning in others, it’s unlikely that the Canada Pavilion will be the last World Showcase location to receive attention this year.
Disney has consistently rotated refurbishment projects throughout EPCOT, allowing crews to refresh individual sections while keeping the overall guest experience largely intact.
Although temporary walls may interrupt a favorite shortcut or photo spot, these projects ultimately help preserve the immersive environments that have made World Showcase one of Disney’s most beloved park experiences for generations.
For now, visitors exploring Canada should plan on taking the longer route around the pavilion until Disney completes work and removes the construction walls. Given the pace of refurbishment activity throughout EPCOT, though, another pavilion could easily be next.
