Attention surrounding who will don the iconic tux after Daniel Craig in Amazon MGM’s upcoming James Bond film is suddenly heating up. The reboot, which is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films) and written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), has no release date yet, but the hunt for the next 007 is well underway, with Nina Gold overseeing the search.

Now, according to a well-known insider, that search may already be over.

Who Is Replacing Daniel Craig in James Bond?

According to well-known industry insider Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK), the search for the next 007 actor has reached its final stages and that the studio may have already found the actor. “I hear they’re in the final round of casting for James Bond and might have already found their guy,” Richtman wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Another scooper, Jeff Sneider, said he “heard the same rumor.” Sneider also floated Nicholas Hoult as a possibility following the actor’s recent departure from HBO’s Harry Potter Season 2, where he had been set to play Gilderoy Lockhart, as reported yesterday (August 24) by Deadline.

“We’ll never know if Nicholas Hoult got bullied out of this franchise or not, but here’s my question. I think he’s too old, same as Callum, but what if HE were cast as James Bond? Next question… Tom Cruise LOVED Hoult for Mission: Impossible. What if he’s in DAYS OF THUNDER 2?”

Fans have already begun weighing in with their predictions and preferred choices in the comments, with many suggesting names previously linked to the role, including Jacob Elordi (Euphoria), Theo James (The Gentleman), and Callum Turner (Eternity), with Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) emerging as a favorite.

Recently, English TV presenter Richard Osman fueled speculation Lowden could be the next 007, revealing on his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast (via Metro) that “someone told me for definite who the new Bond is,” adding, “The name I’ve heard is Jack Lowden.”

Although Osman went on to say, “It is definitively not a ‘he’s definitely got it’ thing. He is definitely being strongly considered. I think he’d be amazing.”

Other frontrunners for Bond have included Aaron Taylor-Johnson (28 Years Later), Idris Elba (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), Henry Cavill (Man of Steel), Austin Butler (Elvis), and Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Brand New Day).

Recently, Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Brand New Day), who’s a producer on the new film alongside David Heyman (the Harry Potter films), told Deadline that we may learn who the new 007 is by the end of this year, which certainly makes Richtman’s latest claim particularly interesting.

“I would say the end of the year is a good bet. We are being really, really methodical,” she said, adding that the new iteration of Bond has “got to be something really different that is stirring and exciting and different.”

Could Amazon MGM already have its new James Bond? With the casting search reportedly entering its final stages and the studio potentially revealing the next 007 before the end of the year, fans may not have to wait much longer to find out.

There’s no release date for the untitled Bond reboot.
