The film introduced audiences to the “bogeyman” Michael Myers, who returns to Haddonfield, Illinois, 15 years after being institutionalized for murdering his teenage sister, Judith.
Alongside Jamie Lee Curtis’ “final girl” Laurie Strode, Donald Pleasence’s Dr. Samuel Loomis, Myers’ psychiatrist, became one of the most recognizable characters in the franchise, appearing across five films in the original series (Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers) before being portrayed by Malcolm McDowell in the 2007 Rob Zombie remake.
More than four decades later, Pleasence’s version of Loomis is once again returning to the night Michael came home.

Halloween Returns
The upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer title Halloween: The Game (2026) expands upon the events of Carpenter’s original movie, effectively creating a “reimagined extended cut” of the story.
Fans will be able to experience Michael’s escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and his subsequent rampage through Haddonfield from a new perspective, as a standalone single-player story allows players to control Michael, who is performed in motion capture by stuntman TJ Storm and original Halloween (1978) actor Nick Castle.
The game also introduces new characters and locations, while familiar faces including Laurie Strode (voiced by Chelsea Krause), Annie Brackett (Kaitlyn Robrock), Lynda van der Klok (Angela Carbone), and Bob Simms (Nicholas Leung) return as playable civilians (dubbed the “Heroes of Haddonfield”) with redesigned appearances and new outfits.
And another familiar presence from the modern Halloween franchise has also returned.

Dr. Loomis Returns to Halloween
Dr. Loomis, who is also a playable character, is voiced by Colin Mahan, who has previously portrayed the character through voice work in Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2021).
In Halloween (2018), Mahan provided the voice for an archival-style recording of Loomis, while Halloween Kills used Mahan’s voice alongside Tom Jones Jr., who physically portrayed the character in the film’s 1978 flashback.
That makes Mahan’s return particularly fitting. While Donald Pleasence died in 1995, his portrayal of Loomis remains central to the character, and Mahan has previously helped recreate that distinctive voice for the modern franchise.
Halloween: The Game is scheduled to launch on September 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
