Halloween is gearing up for a major comeback this year.
While the franchise’s future on the big screen remains unclear following the conclusion of the Blumhouse/David Gordon Green trilogy — Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021), and Halloween Ends (2022) — a television reboot at Miramax is reportedly in development.
There haven’t been any updates on that project for quite some time, but another new Halloween installment is ready to join the spooky season festivities this year.

Halloween: The Game
The upcoming 1v4 asymmetrical slasher title Halloween: The Game is arriving on several major platforms this September.
But while IllFonic’s title is not part of any continuity established in any of the sequels, it revisits John Carpenter’s original 1978 film, allowing players to take on the role of a “Haddonfield Hero” or play as Michael Myers himself either online or in an offline campaign mode.
Players will also get to explore environments inspired by locations in the original Halloween (1978) such as Haddonfield Heights and Haddonfield Town Center.
Playable characters include the iconic “final girl” Laurie Strode (voiced by Chelsea Krause), and her friends from the original film, Bob Simms (Nicholas Leung), Lynda van der Klok (Angela Carbone), and Annie Brackett (Kaitlyn Robrock). Michael Myers is portrayed by original Halloween (1978) actor Nick Castle and actor/stuntman TJ Storm, with both performers providing motion capture.

Halloween Is Also Getting a New Comic Book Series
Now, another new Halloween project has been confirmed alongside the upcoming game.
Daily Dead has announced Halloween: The Game Comic from IllComic (an arm of developer IllFonic) and PANICK Entertainment. The title might be lacking in imagination, but the outlet says that the comic itself “takes readers back to the terrifying events surrounding Halloween 1978, offering a new story featuring Michael Myers at his most relentless.”
Written by Hans Rodionoff and Adam F. Goldberg, with artwork by Eamon Winkle, Robert Nelson, Ivan Dedov and Sean O’Toole, this official companion to the game follows Michael Myers as he “orchestrates a brutal escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium,” essentially offering never-before-seen moments that precede the events of the 1978 film. Here’s the official synopsis:
“On the night before Halloween 1978, Michael Myers orchestrates a brutal escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. As Dr. Loomis realizes pure evil is loose, Michael begins his relentless journey home toward Haddonfield, slaughtering anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path.”
“Halloween is one of the foundational properties of modern horror, and this game and story gives readers an incredible opportunity to get back to the characters and the world that started it all while offering some new elements that will surprise and terrify fans,” said Kris Longo, Founder and CEO of PANICK Entertainment, per Daily Dead. “The combination of Hans Rodionoff, Adam F. Goldberg and this phenomenal art team makes for an incredible HALLOWEEN comic. This is classic Michael Myers unleashed, and we think fans are going to love getting a glimpse of some truly spine-tingling moments that were not seen in Carpenter’s original film.”

The comic also features characters from the game. “Rather than just re-enact or adapt the story of the original film into a comic book, we wanted to explore the five new characters from the game and create new suspense-filled stories with Michael Myers,” said Malek Akkad of Compass International Films. “We wanted the comic to be able to stand on its own, so we put a lot of time and care into choosing the creative team, making sure that we were getting top tier artists and writers to bring the story to life.”
Halloween: The Game Comic #1 will release on November 4, 2026.
Halloween: The Game is set to launch on September 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). The first issue of the comic series will also be included digitally with the Digital Deluxe Edition and physically with the Limited Collector’s Editions.
