Just days after reopening from a lengthy refurbishment, part of the China World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT is already closed again. Walt Disney World Resort brought in rolling planters to conceal the area from theme park guests.

China Pavilion Area Refurbishment at EPCOT

Over the weekend, the dining room on the right side of the Lotus Blossom Café reopened. The decorations and general layout of the indoor/outdoor seating area at the Quick-Service dining location in the China World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT were largely unchanged, but the floor tiles had obviously been replaced.

Walt Disney World Resort closed the right-side dining room a few weeks ago, right after the left-side dining room reopened from a refurbishment of its own. The same new flooring was installed in the left-side dining room, which was otherwise also left unchanged.

The Quick-Service dining location continued to operate normally throughout the refurbishment, and additional picnic-table seating was installed along a walkway outside. Those temporary tables were removed when the right-side dining room at the Lotus Blossom Café reopened on August 9, and Disney Parks fans assumed that was the end of the construction.

It wasn’t.

As of August 12, the right-side dining room at the Lotus Blossom Café is closed once again. According to WDWNT, the area is now blocked with rolling planters, with no word from Walt Disney World Resort on the sudden closure.

Lotus Blossom Café is still open, as is the left-side dining room. It’s unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort will close the left-side dining room again after the second refurbishment of the right-side seating area is complete.

WDWNT did not say whether Walt Disney World Resort brought the temporary picnic tables back to the China World Showcase Pavilion to provide additional seating areas for EPCOT guests during the second closure.

It’s unclear when the left-side dining room of the Lotus Blossom Café will reopen. Follow Inside the Magic for updates on this project and other developments at Disney parks around the globe!
