When they said changed the ending I thought for sure they meant Mother Gothel would end up being misunderstood and instead of being defeated Aurora would change her with some speech and then they’d ride through the Spanish plazas on Maxine to save poor weak Flynn

I laughed a whole lot harder at the sarcastic character lines and cartoon action than I ever have in watching their watered down live action which shouldn’t be called live when it’s all computer made. Disney’s movies are just not funny anymore and completely without meaning or feeling
If men won’t watch this with their daughters they’ll blame it on the “m” word. But as a woman, I’m not interested either. So I wonder what they’d call me? Or little girls?
Let’s see if any of the Tangled Up cast gets politically loud against the audience so we’ll watch this movie bomb like Latino Snow White and then get bashed with more words later on

I can’t get over the number of parents who have said that their children are turning away from this endless supply of slop from Disney. One said her young daughter gave up after the lilo and stitch remake when she saw Disney mess up ohana and literally called it “disgusting”. A bunch could’ve cared less about Moana remake. If children don’t want to see it then the parents won’t be spending their dollars. Children and adults alike want to laugh and be entertained. Not watch their childhood be destroyed by poltics and poor casting and writ ing. Learn to do better, Disney.

I was fifteen or so when I watched the original with my mom. Neither one of us cared for it that much; the horses antics were the best parts. I have no interest in this at all. It’s just very sad that since I’ve grown up Disney cannot make anything new anymore.
In the animated Max carried Flynn to the tower to rescue Aurora. Wounded, he cut her hair to destroy Mother Gothel. She turns to dust as she falls out the window. In this “updated modern take” empowered, independent Aurora will charge on some random CGI horse to the tower to save Flynn instead and she’ll boldly cut her own hair. Mother Gothel will instantly be redeemed, beg Aurora’s forgiveness and help her heal Flynn. There. I gave the ending away for you to save you folks some money.
Strange how those same folks who criticized remaking movies like Moana are hyped for a remake of the 2010 not-so-classic classic movie, when it actually came out six years prior to the original Moana. Remarkable how six years can change perspectives. So appearently Moana is not justified because it’s too new, but Tangled is, even though it came out six years before it. Not twenty-five years. Not fifteen years. Six years before Moana. But sure, never mind that.
With the exception of Moana, several of the original catalogs Disney remade so far were movies that were at least twenty to thirty years old, if not more.
Comments like « Wait! So…..I know I hate live-action remakes, but I’m actually ssoooo excited to see these characters in real liffffffe. Will watch! » is bluntly one of the most tone-deaf sentences I’ve heard someone say.
I understand the urge of supporting the actors, they really have no fault in this: they are passionate artists who are trying to survive in the industry and are genuinely excited about the prospects because they love the stories they too grew up with. (well, with the exception of some).
However, the real problem comes from who’s in charge of the company and thinks these are excellent ideas to greenlight and aggressively doubles down on the strategy.
Dear Disney Studios (and consumers who stubbornly support whatever this is):
Animation is not an inferior medium, nor is it an incomplete draft that needs a live-action upgrade to feel a complementary franchise. It doesn’t need a live-action to check boxes. Under the veneer of « It’s a great opportunity to revisit beloved stories and introduce them to modern audiences » (whatever the heck that means, because, in my view, these movies were made because they contained universal and evergreen messages that never outgrow the test of time).
I honestly don’t care if I am called a hater. They can call me whatever fits their tastes and interests best. If being a troll or a hater means I get to lambast the strategy being currently played out at the studio and speak my mind, then so be it. I’m a hater, I guess. But by all means, if they consider yourself smart enough not to listen to the « haters », they will almost certainly have zero issues to « let themselves enjoy things ».
