Disney fans already have plenty to look forward to, but it sounds like the company is far from finished.

During The Walt Disney Company’s third-quarter earnings call, new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro and other executives reaffirmed that some of the biggest expansion projects in Disney history are still moving forward. At the same time, another major event is just days away, leaving fans wondering what else could be on the horizon.

With D23 set for August 14-16, 2026, expectations are growing that Disney could unveil even more additions for its parks around the world. While nothing has been confirmed beyond what’s already announced, history suggests Disney isn’t likely to let its biggest fan event pass without delivering at least a few headline-making surprises.

Disney Reaffirms Its Massive Parks Expansion

Disney used its latest earnings presentation to once again spotlight the enormous amount of work happening across its theme parks. Executives pointed to several projects that are already under construction or officially announced, reinforcing that the company remains heavily invested in expanding its Experiences division.

For Walt Disney World, that includes the long-awaited Villains-themed land at Magic Kingdom, the Monsters, Inc. land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and the Cars-inspired Piston Peak National Park replacing the former Rivers of America area in Magic Kingdom.

Disneyland Resort also has major projects in the works, including a Coco attraction, an expanded Avengers Campus, and a new Avatar experience. International parks aren’t being left behind either, with new Marvel, Spider-Man, and Lion King-themed expansions planned across Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disney Resort, and Disneyland Paris.

Those announcements alone represent billions of dollars in investment, but Disney’s leadership made it clear that its long-term growth strategy continues to revolve around adding more experiences for guests.

Strong Results Give Disney Momentum

The renewed focus on expansion comes as Disney reported another strong quarter for its Experiences segment.

According to the company, domestic park attendance increased by 3%, while guest spending also climbed. Overall Experiences revenue reached nearly $10 billion during the quarter, with operating income jumping 20% year over year. Disney specifically credited Walt Disney World with a standout performance driven by healthy attendance from domestic tourists, Annual Passholders, summer promotions, and new offerings.

Those results give Disney additional confidence as it continues investing heavily in new attractions, hotels, cruise ships, and entertainment offerings.

All Eyes Now Turn to D23

As significant as today’s earnings call was, many Disney fans are already looking ahead to next week.

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event returns to Anaheim from August 14 through August 16, and Disney has traditionally used the convention to reveal some of its biggest future projects. Past D23 presentations have introduced entirely new lands, major ride announcements, hotel expansions, cruise ship news, and long-term development plans.

Disney has not announced exactly what will be revealed during this year’s Parks presentation. However, given the company’s history and the timing of the event, many fans expect additional announcements for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Whether those announcements involve entirely new attractions, updated timelines for existing projects, or completely unexpected park expansions remains to be seen.

Disney’s Biggest Announcements May Still Be Ahead

Today’s earnings call served as another reminder that Disney’s parks are in the middle of one of their largest transformation periods in decades.

Construction is already underway across multiple resorts, new lands continue to move closer to reality, and Disney executives showed no signs of slowing down their investment in the parks business. With D23 beginning in just over a week, there’s every reason to believe Disney still has more to share.

No one outside the company knows exactly what will be announced. Still, considering Disney’s track record at D23 and the scale of projects already in development, it would be surprising if the event passed without at least one major parks reveal. For Disney fans, the next few weeks could bring an even clearer picture of what the future of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and the rest of Disney’s global parks will look like.
