For some guests, taking a Disney cruise has required more travel before the vacation even begins. An option they once had closer to home disappeared, leaving them waiting to see whether Disney would ever bring it back.
That wait finally has an end date.
Disney has confirmed a limited comeback for fall 2027, giving those guests something they have been missing for several years. And one of Disney Cruise Line’s newer ships will lead the return.
Why Do Disney Cruises Continue to Draw Families Back?
Disney Cruise Line gives families another way to experience Disney beyond the theme parks.
Guests still get Disney entertainment, characters, themed dining, and familiar touches. At the same time, they can visit multiple destinations during one vacation.
Families can explore ports during the day, return to the ship for dinner and entertainment, and wake up somewhere different the next morning.
Seasonal cruises add even more. Halloween on the High Seas brings Halloween-themed offerings aboard select voyages, making fall especially appealing for some Disney fans.
In 2027, those seasonal cruises will help bring back an option some travelers have been missing.
Disney Cruise Line Is Giving New York Guests Another Chance
Disney Cruise Line has officially confirmed that it will sail from New York City again in fall 2027.
The Disney Wish will operate a limited collection of voyages between late September and early November, taking passengers toward Bermuda, Canada, New England, and eventually Puerto Rico.
There had already been clues about a possible comeback.
An update to the Cruise NYC website in July raised questions about Disney returning. Disney later shared coordinates on social media ahead of its announcement. One set pointed toward New York City, while another landed near Bermuda.
Now Disney’s schedule lists multiple Disney Wish departures from New York beginning September 29, 2027.
Northeast Disney Fans Have Been Missing Out Since 2023
The announcement means more than simply adding another departure port.
New York has been missing since 2023, when the Disney Dream offered select Bermuda and Eastern Canada cruises from the city. Since then, travelers in the Northeast haven’t had the same local Disney Cruise Line option.
While Disney continued offering cruises from ports such as Port Canaveral, Northeast families interested in sailing with Disney have had to look farther from home.
New York’s return changes that for a limited period.
Disney will spend more than a month operating from the city, including several Halloween on the High Seas sailings.
For families who have spent years waiting, Disney is finally bringing the experience closer to home.
The Disney Wish Will Start With Bermuda
Disney will begin its New York schedule with a four-night Bermuda cruise.
The Disney Wish leaves September 29 and visits King’s Wharf before returning October 3.
A five-night Canada and New England cruise follows on October 3. The Halloween on the High Seas voyage includes Saint John, New Brunswick, and Boston.
A six-night Halloween sailing leaves October 8 and visits King’s Wharf and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Disney will then operate two five-night Bermuda cruises departing on October 14 and October 19. Both feature Halloween on the High Seas.
One Longer Disney Cruise Will Head Into Canada
Guests wanting a longer trip will have another option later in October.
Disney has scheduled a seven-night cruise to Canada from October 24 through October 31. The Halloween on the High Seas itinerary visits Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island, Sydney in Nova Scotia, and Halifax.
The New York schedule ends with a voyage that does not return to the city.
On October 31, the Disney Wish will depart on a five-night, one-way Halloween on the High Seas cruise. The ship will visit King’s Wharf before finishing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on November 5.
Disney has posted these itineraries, but reservations are not available yet.
Disney’s Growing Fleet Opens More Opportunities
New York has historically served as an occasional home port for Disney Cruise Line rather than a permanent fixture.
Disney’s growing fleet gives the company more flexibility to send ships to different destinations while continuing to serve its major ports.
Disney has also expanded its relationship with St. Maarten, while its agreement with the Port of San Diego has been extended through 2031.
Now, New York is getting another turn.
Disney Is Finally Giving Northeast Guests Something Back
For Disney fans in the Northeast, fall 2027 could make taking a Disney cruise considerably easier.
Instead of traveling to Florida or another distant cruise port, some families will once again be able to begin their vacation directly from New York City.
The limited schedule also brings plenty of variety, including Bermuda, Canada, Halloween on the High Seas, and a one-way voyage to Puerto Rico.
After three full years without New York departures, Northeast guests are finally getting another opportunity to sail Disney closer to home.
For travelers who have been waiting since 2023, Disney Cruise Line is finally returning an option that has been missing for years.
