Notice for Guests Staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
On July 14, WDWNT reported that a new A-frame plastic sign had appeared on a walkway to the main pool area at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The signage tells guests staying at the Magic Kingdom Resort area hotel to “please utilize alternate walkway.”
If Central Florida Disney Park guests walk past the sign, they won’t get very far. A combination of rolling planters and plastic green fences blocks both the sidewalk and the nearby grassy area, preventing guests from accessing the affected area.
Other A-frame signs direct Deluxe Disney Resort hotel guests down alternate walkways to the “pool entrance.”
It’s unclear exactly what construction work caused Walt Disney World Resort to reroute the pathway to the pool at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Disney is currently constructing a new traffic circle in the Magic Kingdom Resort area, affecting routes to both the Grand Floridian and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The latest update from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa comes amid what many Disney Parks fans see as a crackdown on Resort Hopping. Late last month, Walt Disney World Resort officially restricted bus and boat transportation at Disney Springs to guests staying at onsite hotels and required proof to board.
Days later, Walt Disney World Resort announced that the iconic life-sized Gingerbread House, a huge traffic draw, would not return to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa this holiday season. In a Disney Parks Blog post, Disney specified for the first time that its iconic Christmas decorations were intended only for guests staying at or with a valid dining reservation at Disney Resort hotels.
Right now, guests are still allowed to board the Monorail, Disney Skyliner, bus, and watercraft transportation from the four theme parks to the hotels without proof of an overnight stay or a valid dining reservation. However, Disney has cracked down on extended daytime parking at its on-property hotels and tightened security on the walkway between the Transportation & Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom Park, through Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
