Disneyland is getting ready for Halloween Time, and one of the resort’s more unique seasonal experiences is officially coming back.

Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour will return in August 2026, giving guests another way to explore the Halloween season beyond the usual decorations, attractions, entertainment, and food. The experience takes visitors through both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure while sharing Halloween stories and Disney history along the way.

For Disney fans who enjoy learning more about the parks while also getting a few extras during their visit, this tour packs several perks into a two-hour experience. There is one important detail to remember, though: reservations open before the tour actually begins.

Disneyland’s Halloween Season Is Almost Here

Summer may still be underway, but Disneyland Resort is already looking ahead to pumpkins, villains, spooky decorations, and Halloween entertainment.

Halloween Time has grown into one of Disneyland’s biggest seasonal celebrations, transforming areas throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Guests can experience seasonal attraction overlays, special entertainment, themed food, decorations, and other limited-time offerings.

This year, Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour will once again become part of that lineup.

Unlike simply walking through the parks and checking out the Halloween decorations, the guided experience gives guests a closer look at Disney’s Halloween traditions. A tour guide leads the group through both theme parks while sharing Halloween history and Disney-inspired stories.

The tour takes place at night, which should also give guests a chance to see the parks after the Halloween decorations have taken on a different atmosphere after dark.

Because the two-hour experience moves participants through both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, it gives a limited number of guests a structured activity instead of adding them to attraction queues or crowded entertainment areas for the entire evening.

The included Lightning Lane entry to Haunted Mansion Holiday and reserved viewing for Halloween Screams could help as well, since participants won’t need to spend as much time waiting in the standby line or securing viewing spots far in advance.

It certainly won’t solve Halloween crowds on its own, but experiences like this can help distribute guests across different activities during some of the resort’s busiest seasonal nights.

Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour Returns August 21

Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour officially returns on August 21, 2026.

That date is especially notable because it lines up with the beginning of Disneyland Resort’s Halloween season.

However, guests interested in taking the tour shouldn’t wait until August to start thinking about reservations.

Bookings for the 2026 experience open on July 30. Availability is limited, and reservations can sell out, meaning guests with specific vacation dates may want to make their plans early.

The guided experience lasts approximately two hours, so it will take up a decent portion of an evening inside the parks. At the same time, Disney includes several benefits that could make the time commitment more appealing.

The Tour Includes Haunted Mansion Holiday Access

One of the biggest perks included with Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour is Lightning Lane entry to Haunted Mansion Holiday.

The seasonal version of Haunted Mansion transforms the classic Disneyland attraction with characters and scenes inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993).

Instead of having to work the attraction into their touring plans separately, guests participating in Happiest Haunts receive Lightning Lane entry as part of the experience.

That isn’t the only entertainment perk included.

Tour participants also receive access to a reserved viewing area for Halloween Screams, Disneyland’s nighttime Halloween spectacular.

Reserved viewing could be particularly useful on a busy Halloween evening when guests might otherwise spend additional time trying to secure a good location for the show.

Together, those two benefits make the tour more than a guided walk around the resort.

Guests Get Several Other Extras

Disney also includes a couple of physical items with the tour.

Participants receive a Happiest Haunts Dirt Worm Crispie treat, adding a seasonal snack to the experience.

Guests also receive a Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour key.

For collectors, the tour key could provide another reason to consider booking the experience. Rather than leaving with only memories from the tour, participants have something specifically connected to the seasonal offering.

Of course, the central part of the experience remains the tour itself.

Disney uses the two hours to take visitors around the resort while sharing Halloween history and stories. That makes Happiest Haunts particularly suited for guests who enjoy the details and history behind Disney’s seasonal celebrations rather than simply experiencing the rides.

Oogie Boogie Bash Is Also Returning

Happiest Haunts isn’t the only major Halloween experience guests can find at Disneyland Resort.

Oogie Boogie Bash will once again bring a separately ticketed Halloween party to Disney California Adventure.

The event has become a major part of Disneyland’s Halloween season, offering special characters, entertainment, food, and other experiences that guests won’t typically encounter during an ordinary operating day.

Happiest Haunts and Oogie Boogie Bash are different experiences, however.

The guided tour focuses more heavily on storytelling, park history, Halloween atmosphere, and its included perks. Oogie Boogie Bash operates as a larger after-hours Halloween event.

Guests planning a Halloween vacation could potentially experience both, depending on their dates, budgets, and availability.

Reservations Open Before Halloween Time Begins

The biggest date to remember right now is July 30, 2026.

That’s when reservations open for Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour.

The first tours begin August 21, meaning Disney is giving guests several weeks to secure their spots before the experience officially returns. Availability is limited, and the tour can sell out.

That makes advance planning especially important for anyone visiting Disneyland Resort on fixed dates.

Halloween Time already gives guests plenty to do between seasonal entertainment, decorations, attraction overlays, food, merchandise, and special events. Happiest Haunts adds another option for visitors who want something a little more structured during their trip.

With Lightning Lane entry to Haunted Mansion Holiday, reserved Halloween Screams viewing, a seasonal treat, a collectible tour key, and two hours of Halloween storytelling across both parks, Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour offers a different way to experience the season.

And with reservations opening July 30, guests interested in joining the tour won’t have to wait much longer to secure their spot.
