Guests walking through EPCOT’s France Pavilion this week may notice that one familiar storefront has suddenly gone quiet. Behind darkened windows, one of the pavilion’s longtime specialty shops has officially closed, marking the beginning of another refurbishment project inside World Showcase.
While Disney hasn’t announced exactly what changes are coming, the closure also marks the temporary end of a location that has welcomed guests for nearly two decades in its current form. After 19 years, La Signature has officially closed for refurbishment, leaving fans wondering what the boutique will look like when it returns later this year.

A France Pavilion staple since 2007
The current version of La Signature first welcomed guests on July 26, 2007, when Disney remodeled the location. Since then, it has become one of EPCOT’s more unique shopping destinations, offering an upscale experience centered around French beauty products and luxury fragrances.
Unlike many World Showcase shops that primarily focus on souvenirs, La Signature carved out its own niche. Guests could browse dozens of fragrances, cosmetics, skincare products, and beauty accessories while also receiving makeup consultations. The boutique became especially well known for its large selection of Guerlain perfumes, one of France’s oldest and most prestigious fragrance houses.
For many repeat EPCOT visitors, stopping inside La Signature became part of the routine while exploring the France Pavilion. Even guests who weren’t planning to purchase perfume often stepped inside simply to experience the elegant atmosphere and sample fragrances unavailable in many retail stores across the United States.
Now, after nearly 19 years in its current incarnation, those doors have temporarily closed.
Disney shutters the longtime boutique
La Signature officially closed on June 29 to begin a refurbishment project. Guests visiting EPCOT afterward found the entrance closed and the storefront windows completely blacked out, preventing anyone from seeing work taking place inside.
That detail has attracted attention because Disney doesn’t always cover windows during routine maintenance. Blacked-out windows often suggest more extensive interior work, though Disney has not confirmed exactly what the project includes.
At this point, the company has only indicated that La Signature is expected to reopen sometime later in 2026. No specific reopening date has been announced.
Because Disney hasn’t shared additional details, it’s unclear whether guests should expect a simple refresh with new finishes and fixtures or something more substantial. The exterior remains largely unchanged for now, but all activity is taking place behind the covered windows.
Guests can still shop for some of their favorite products
The closure doesn’t mean every product has disappeared from the France Pavilion.
Disney has temporarily relocated some Guerlain merchandise to nearby Plume et Palette, another shop within the pavilion. While the selection isn’t identical to what guests would normally find inside La Signature, visitors looking for French fragrances or cosmetics will still have access to a portion of the lineup during the refurbishment.
It’s a common strategy Disney uses during longer refurbishments. Rather than removing merchandise entirely, the company often shifts popular products to neighboring retail locations whenever space allows.
That means guests who specifically planned to shop for French beauty products may still find what they’re looking for, although the experience won’t quite match browsing inside the dedicated Haute Perfumery.

The France Pavilion continues to evolve
Although the France Pavilion is one of EPCOT’s oldest World Showcase destinations, it has seen several changes over the past few years.
The pavilion expanded significantly with the addition of the Ratatouille-inspired area, anchored by Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. The expansion added new pathways, gardens, dining locations, and additional shopping while giving guests another reason to spend more time exploring this section of World Showcase.
At the same time, longtime favorites like Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie, L’Artisan des Glaces, Chefs de France, Monsieur Paul, and the pavilion’s boutiques have remained central to its identity.
La Signature may not receive the same attention as one of EPCOT’s headline attractions, but it has quietly become part of the pavilion’s character over nearly two decades. Its elegant interior, premium fragrance selection, and distinctly French atmosphere helped separate it from many other retail locations throughout Walt Disney World.
That’s why many fans will be watching closely to see exactly what Disney has planned when the refurbishment wraps up.
Another refurbishment during a busy year at EPCOT
La Signature’s temporary closure is just one of several projects taking place around EPCOT.
The park has continued evolving well beyond its massive multi-year transformation, with Disney periodically refreshing attractions, restaurants, shops, and guest areas to keep them looking their best.
Retail refurbishments may not generate the same excitement as new rides, but they’re an important part of maintaining the immersive environments that make World Showcase unique. Each pavilion is designed to transport guests to another country, and keeping storefronts fresh helps preserve that experience.
For Disney, investing in smaller projects like La Signature helps ensure these spaces continue meeting guest expectations, even if the work happens behind temporary construction walls.
What comes next?
For now, guests visiting EPCOT should expect La Signature to remain unavailable while refurbishment continues.
Disney has not announced whether the boutique will receive a new layout, updated décor, expanded merchandise offerings, or other enhancements. Until the company provides more information, fans will have to wait and see what emerges once those blacked-out windows finally come down.
One thing is certain, however: this closure represents the first major interruption for a location that has operated as a Haute Perfumery since July 2007. After serving guests for nearly 19 years, La Signature is getting its turn behind the construction walls.
With a reopening expected later this year, many EPCOT fans will be eager to see whether Disney simply refreshes one of World Showcase’s most elegant boutiques or uses the opportunity to introduce something entirely new. Until then, anyone looking for a touch of French luxury will need to make a stop at Plume et Palette while La Signature undergoes its next chapter.
