Beginning May 22, some Disneyland Resort guests can build a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop for free! Of course, there are a few restrictions for this limited-time experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Here’s what Southern California Disney Park guests need to know.
Free Lightsaber Building at Savi’s Workshop

As part of Kids Rule Summer at Disneyland Resort, the youngest Star Wars fans can participate in the Youngling Saber Building Expo – A Loth-Cat Crew Experience at Savi’s Workshop in Batuu. According to Disney Parks Blog, this workshop is completely free. Young Disney Park guests do not have to pay the normal $249.99 to build a lightsaber to participate.
During the experience, children and their supervising adults will become members of the Loth-Cat Crew and embark on a lightsaber-building adventure alongside Disney cast members. While the experience itself is free, guests will not automatically receive a lightsaber to take home at the end of the session. Families can purchase their lightsabers after the workshop; otherwise, they’ll need to be returned. Pricing information is not yet available.

The experience is recommended for Disney Park guests aged three to nine, who must be accompanied by an adult. Capacity is limited. Schedule and pricing information will be available on Disneyland Resort’s website beginning May 22, 2026.
Walt Disney World Resort has not announced plans to offer a similar complimentary Savi’s Workshop experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Central Florida Disney parks have their own version of Kids Rule Summer called Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, with limited-time offerings and experiences targeted at younger guests.
Standard Lightsaber Building Experience

Typically, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort guests must make a reservation and pay $249.99 to build their own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. The price tag includes an immersive Star Wars-themed experience and all the parts and pieces for a functional lightsaber. Some deluxe add-ons are available at an additional cost.
