Six years after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down Disneyland Resort, the Southern California Disney park is finally revoking a theme park reservation policy that began when Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park reopened. The changes are effective beginning June 9, 2026.
Disneyland Changes Park Hopping Rules For Guests With Park Reservations

On May 19, Disneyland Resort announced that it would revoke the 11:00 a.m. Park Hopping rule for Magic Key holders and Park Hopper ticketholders beginning June 9. The policy previously required that guests with theme park reservations for Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park wait until 11:00 a.m. to cross the esplanade into the other park. From theme park journalist Scott Gustin on X (formerly known as Twitter):
NEW: Disneyland is eliminating the 11 a.m. Park Hopper restriction starting June 9.
With this change, guests with Park Hopper tickets and Magic Key passes will be able to move between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure at any time, subject to park availability.

As Gustin notes, park entry is still subject to availability. In the rare instance that Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park reaches capacity, Magic Key holders and guests with Park Hopper tickets may not hop to the full park. Magic Key holders may not make theme park reservations or Park Hop during blockout dates.

Additionally, guests will no longer have to tap into their chosen theme park first before park hopping. This means that, if reservations for Disneyland Park are full, a Magic Key holder or Park Hopper ticketholder could make a reservation for Disney California Adventure Park, then enter Disneyland Park without ever scanning into Disney California Adventure Park.
Update: When the change takes effect June 9, guests will still need to select a first park on their park reservation, but they will not need to first tap into their starting park before hopping.
This update means a guest with a Disney California Adventure reservation and a Park Hopper ticket could theoretically enter Disneyland first, subject to availability.

Disneyland Resort has not announced plans to revoke the theme park reservation requirement entirely.
