Since his debut in 1953, James Bond has remained one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. From Ian Fleming’s original novels to the 25 films (and the non-Eon-produced Never Say Never Again), the globe-trotting spy has been reimagined for each generation. And now, 007 is embarking on a new era that will see him span several mediums in one go.
The most highly anticipated project is, of course, the untitled film reboot from Amazon MGM, which has director Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Dune: Part Two) and writer Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) attached. While that project has yet to cast a new actor as Bond, several new iterations of the character will be appearing in new content this year alone.

Upcoming projects also include the third-person video game 007 First Light from IO Interactive and three new novels: Vaseem Khan’s The Man with the Golden Compass (the second entry in The Q Mysteries series), M. W. Craven’s James Bond and the Secret Agent Academy, and Kim Sherwood’s Hurricane Room, the third entry in her Double O trilogy.
Now, yet another new James Bond installment has been confirmed.

Charlie Higson, author of the original Young Bond series — SilverFin, Blood Fever, Double or Die, Hurricane Gold, and By Royal Command — and the standalone novella On His Majesty’s Secret Service, has been commissioned by Ian Fleming Publications to write his first adult James Bond novel, which will be a continuation of his original 007 book saga.
Here’s the official synopsis from Ian Fleming Publications:
“Le Chiffre. Dr No. Goldfinger. James Bond has faced them all. But now the world is changing, and even 007 has no idea what’s coming for him…
It starts with a murdered agent in the Saudi desert. Only a traitor could have known enough to bring him down. But even James Bond can’t guess at the secret that was worth killing him to keep. As Bond follows the trail across the globe, he doesn’t realise the countdown has already begun. And hiding in the shadows is a man with more power than he could ever have imagined. Prepare for a villain unlike any before. Prepare for KING ZERO.”
“It’s very exciting,” Higson told MI6.com. “It is very hard to get people excited about books, so when the publisher goes to this level of effort, it says a lot. There I finally am after over 20 years of toiling in the world of writing James Bond! My first big, full-length Bond novel is coming out, and it’s really exciting to be part of the world of James Bond. It’s something special.”
In another corner of the entertainment world, 007 First Light will introduce a new Bond played by Irish actor Patrick Gibson, best known as the young Dexter Morgan in the Paramount+ series Dexter: Original Sin (2024). The game also stars Priyanga Burford (M), Kiera Lester (Miss Moneypenny), Naomie Ackie (Miss Roth), Alastair Mackenzie (Q), Lennie James (John Greenway), Gemma Chan (Selina Tan), and Lenny Kravitz (Bawma). The third-person action-adventure releases on May 27, 2026.

Here are the release dates for upcoming Bond novels:
- Hurricane Room — May 26
- King Zero — September 24
- The Man with the Golden Compass — October 22
- James Bond and the Secret Agent Academy — April 2027
There’s no release date for the James Bond film.
