There are currently two major James Bond reboots in development. One of them is the highly anticipated film from Dune (2021) director Denis Villeneuve, which is being produced under Amazon MGM. However, that project has yet to cast anyone, let alone 007 himself.
The other is a video game, which already boasts a big lineup of actors. Some are well-known, others perhaps not so much. But now, a very familiar name has been added to that roster.

Why You Should Be Excited for “007 First Light”
“007 First Light” is shaping up to be one of the biggest video game events of 2026, bringing the world’s most famous spy back to interactive form for the first time in over a decade.
Developed by IO Interactive — the studio best known for the Hitman series — the game tells an origin story, focusing on a younger James Bond as he rises through the ranks at MI6.

The New James Bond Cast
Irish actor Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) stars as Bond, who begins the game at 26 as a Royal Navy air crewman thrust into espionage.
The supporting cast includes Priyanga Burford as M, the head of MI6; Lennie James as John Greenway, Bond’s mentor; Alastair Mackenzie as Q, the agency’s gadget inventor; Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny, M’s secretary; Noemie Nakai as the enigmatic Miss Roth; and Gemma Chan as Selina Tan, MI6’s Head of Tactical Simulation.
These characters will help define Bond’s early journey into the 00 section.

A Surprising New Actor Joins the Fold
Now, a new actor has been revealed, but he won’t be joining the MI6 team. At the recent Game Awards, IO Interactive unveiled a new trailer that showcases a new Bond villain.
The name? Kravitz… Lenny Kravitz.
The Grammy Award-winning musician and actor plays the new villain Bawma, the formidable leader of a powerful black-market arms network in the region of Aleph. The trailer features a memorable sequence — one teased in the first trailer for the upcoming game — in which Bawma has both Bond (Gibson) and Greenway (James) suspended above a pit of crocodiles (classic 007 antics), establishing him as a dangerous and unpredictable foe.

The reveal marks Kravitz’s first major role in a video game, where his voice and likeness have been built into the performance. This isn’t the singer’s first acting role, though — outside his music career, he’s best known for playing Cinna in the original Hunger Games film series.
When Is “007 First Light” Out?
“007 First Light” is a third-person, story-driven action-adventure in which players follow James Bond through his earliest missions and key moments that define his path into the 00 programme. The game will be released on March 27, 2026, across several major platforms.
