Walt Disney World’s event calendar has always been one of the more underappreciated tools in a guest’s planning arsenal. The parks operate on a rhythm of ticketed events, private buyouts, seasonal programming, and special experiences that run parallel to the standard park day, and for guests who either know how to use them or fail to account for them, the difference in experience can be significant.

Disney After Hours events are among the most consistently popular additions to that calendar.

The limited-capacity, separately ticketed format gives guests access to attractions, complimentary snacks, and entertainment in a late-night window when crowds have thinned and the parks take on a different energy entirely. EPCOT’s After Hours events have been particularly sought-after in 2026, and the latest sell-out confirmation is a clear signal that demand for these experiences is outpacing the available inventory.

At the same time, a May date at Magic Kingdom is drawing attention for the opposite reason — not because guests are rushing to secure a spot, but because the park is closing early due to a private corporate buyout that most guests will not see coming if they have not checked the operating calendar recently. Both situations have direct implications for Walt Disney World trip planning, and both are worth understanding before you finalize any upcoming plans.

EPCOT After Hours Has Sold Out Its Second Date of the Season

The April 2 Disney After Hours event at EPCOT has officially sold out, making it the second EPCOT date to reach capacity in the 2026 season. The event was priced at $179 per person, the top end of the EPCOT After Hours range for 2026. The only other EPCOT sell-out this season was February 19, which was also priced at $179.

Sell-outs have been relatively uncommon across the 2026 After Hours season overall. At Magic Kingdom, just two dates have sold out so far — January 12 and March 9. No Hollywood Studios After Hours dates have sold out yet this season. The fact that both EPCOT sell-outs have occurred at the $179 price point suggests that demand at that tier is notably strong, and guests eyeing the remaining spring and summer dates should not assume availability will hold.

For guests who have not attended a Disney After Hours event before, the format is worth understanding. Entry begins at 7 p.m., with the exclusive event running from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. No theme park reservation is required with an After Hours ticket, which removes one planning step for guests who use the event as a standalone evening experience.

Included with the ticket price are complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and bottled beverages, as well as late-night access to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, Soarin’, Test Track, and more. Character appearances from Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy are part of the evening, along with a DJ dance party at CommuniCore Plaza.

Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members receive a $30 discount per ticket on EPCOT After Hours events, which brings the price down to $149 at the current top tier — a meaningful savings for guests who qualify.

Remaining EPCOT After Hours Dates and Prices

For guests interested in securing a spot before more dates sell out, the remaining 2026 EPCOT After Hours calendar currently looks like this. All prices are per person, plus tax.

April 9 and April 15 are both at $179. April 23 and April 30 are also $179. May 21 and the June dates of June 11 and June 18 remain at $179 as well. July 9 is $179, while July 23 drops slightly to $169. August pricing steps down further, with August 6 and August 13 both at $159. The September dates of September 16 and September 24 are the most affordable remaining options at $155 each.

Given that both sold-out dates this season were at the $179 tier, guests with flexible scheduling might consider the later summer or fall dates as a lower-cost alternative with potentially more availability.

Magic Kingdom Is Closing at 5:30 P.M. on May 13

On an entirely different note, guests with Walt Disney World trips planned around May 13, 2026, need to check their Magic Kingdom plans immediately. The park is currently scheduled to close at 5:30 p.m. that day, a significant departure from the typical spring evening operating hours that regularly extend to 9 p.m., 10 p.m., or later.

The early closure is tied to a private corporate buyout. The SAP Sapphire and ASUG Annual Conference, held at the Orange County Convention Center, is hosting a private “Celebration Night at Magic Kingdom” exclusively for conference attendees. The SAP website describes the event directly: “Enjoy iconic attractions, beloved Disney characters, delicious food, and a private concert against the backdrop of Cinderella Castle — a celebration night you won’t want to miss.” The Dave Matthews Band is scheduled to perform during the evening’s festivities.

For day guests, the practical impact is clear. Magic Kingdom will close to regular visitors at 5:30 p.m., which means no evening fireworks, no nighttime parades, and no late-night access to attractions like Space Mountain or Pirates of the Caribbean. Early theme park entry for eligible resort hotel guests will still take place that morning, and regular opening hours remain intact. The curtailment hits in the late afternoon when guests would normally be settling in for the park’s evening programming.

Guests with dining reservations inside Magic Kingdom after 5:30 p.m. on May 13 will need to adjust or relocate those plans. Advance dining reservations at nearby parks and resort restaurants are likely to become more competitive as guests become aware of the early closure and scramble to rebook.

How to Build Your Day Around Both of These

For guests whose trips include any of the remaining EPCOT After Hours dates, the time to book is now rather than later. The sell-out pace on the $179 spring dates suggests that April availability in particular is narrowing. Annual Passholders and DVC members should factor in the $30 discount before comparing the per-person cost against other evening entertainment options.

For guests with May 13 at Magic Kingdom on the calendar, the clearest strategy is to treat that day as a half-day park visit and plan an evening experience elsewhere on property. EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are all expected to operate on their normal schedules that day, making park hopping a reasonable option. Disney Springs is also available for guests who prefer a lower-key evening. Any dinner reservations currently booked inside Magic Kingdom for after 5:30 p.m. should be moved as soon as possible while availability at other locations is still reasonable.

Operating calendars at Walt Disney World are subject to change, and May dates in particular tend to shift as the season approaches. Keep checking the official Disney app for any updates to park hours around your travel dates.
