Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) took a $869.1 million-sized bite out of the global box office last summer, so reports that another film was in talks at Universal were hardly surprising.
The film itself didn’t earn much praise from longtime Jurassic fans and critics, but since when has that stopped the multi-billion-dollar film series from churning out another sequel?

The Title for the Next Jurassic World Revealed?
While the studio is yet to confirm anything, Film Base, a website that features entertainment industry updates and information on productions starting in the UK, recently shared notes from one of its webinars, which detailed several “big tent-pole movies” heading to the UK, including none other than “the next Jurassic”, a project that’s “said to be starting in March.”
Now, the title for the eighth film in the franchise may have also been unintentionally revealed via domain name purchases and registrations. Shared via Jurassic YouTube fan channel Swrve), the domain name jurassicworldliberation.com has been filed and applied by an unknown source, and the URL reroutes you directly to the official Jurassic World website.

It’s Exactly How the Title Rebirth Was Leaked
This new domain name strongly implies that the title for the next film in the series is Jurassic World Liberation. Of course, it could be related to another Jurassic project, but between the leak via Film Base and the fact that the last film’s title – Jurassic World Rebirth – also leaked via domain name registrations, this will more than likely to turn out to be true.
Still, best take this with a pinch of salt until Universal confirms it (remember the title Jurassic City that floated around after the last film was announced and came to nothing?).
If it’s real, though, what could Jurassic World Liberation possibly mean?

What Could Jurassic World Liberation Mean?
Jurassic World Rebirth was touted as a “standalone” movie by members of the film’s cast and crew, so there’s every chance the next installment will have nothing to do with last year’s blockbuster. After all, it’s easy to forget that the first three Jurassic Park films (the 1993 original through Jurassic Park III) are standalone entries, unlike the Jurassic World trilogy.
That said, previous reports that a new film was in the works named director Gareth Edwards and actors Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey all being in talks to return, suggesting that the next sequel will be a continuation of the story set up in Rebirth.

As for the title Jurassic World Liberation, it’s unclear.
It’s no mystery that screenwriter David Koepp, who co-wrote the original Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and returned for the seventh installment, essentially wrote the film series into a corner with Rebirth by undoing the global dinosaur population storyline and limiting the prehistoric creatures to an isolated jungle island setting (Ile Saint-Hubert) all over again.
It’s hard to imagine any storyline following that film, especially under the title Liberation. But it’s also worth noting that the name might not even have anything to do with the story, seeing as Rebirth doesn’t relate to anything whatsoever in the film, instead referring to the beginning of a new Jurassic era for audiences.
Similarly, Liberation may indicate a “freeing” of this era from its own past, which might suggests the continuity is about to wiped clean.

Alternatively, Liberation could refer to the Dinosaur Liberation Group from Season 2 of the Netflix animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
Commonly abbreviated as DLN, it is a non-profit vigilante group focused on releasing dinosaurs from captivity by the hands of humans around the world. But with dinosaur populations dwindling globally, it’s unlikely to be the case.
Or, it might refer to the freeing of the dinosaurs on Isla Sorna, AKA Site B (as seen in The Lost World), which InGen scientists were forced to do after a hurricane wiped out the facility. This, however, would mean that the film is a prequel and not a follow-up to Rebirth.
Jurassic World Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Mahershala Ali (Green Book), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
