One Disney resort is changing its park hopping rules today.

From Disneyland Resort to Shanghai Disneyland, Disney has dramatically expanded its theme park lineup over the decades. For destinations with more than one park, a perk that the company often offers is park hopping – a feature available only with certain types of tickets, which allows those who pay the premium to visit different parks on the same day.

This perk is most beneficial at Walt Disney World Resort, where its sprawling size means guests have a lot to squeeze into one vacation.

While Disney implemented strict park-hopping restrictions in the wake of its COVID-19 shutdown, it finally abandoned these rules in 2024, meaning those with the right kind of ticket now have total freedom to go from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, if they so please (and as long as the parks haven’t reached full capacity).

The same is true at Disneyland Resort, where guests with a park hopper can freely “hop” between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, meaning they can experience both Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Avengers Campus in the same day.

But further afield, Disney guests don’t always have this level of flexibility.

Park Hopper Tickets Reintroduced Today

Unlike Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney Resort does not offer park hopping year-round. Since COVID-19, park hopper tickets have only been available during limited windows.

One of those windows begins today. Until March 31, 2026, Tokyo Disney Resort will offer 1-Day Park Hopper Passports. Guests can choose either Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea as their starting park, and beginning at 11 a.m., they can move freely between the two.

However, park hopping at Tokyo Disney Resort works differently from the U.S.

When leaving a park or entering the other, guests must notify a cast member at the exit. A cast member will then scan the ticket each time to enable re-entry and confirm the park hop. Guests can then go between Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea at will for the rest of the day.

Ticket prices vary depending on the date, but cost between 14,500 yen ($94) and 18,900 yen ($123) per adult. Junior tickets cost 11,900 yen ($77) to 15,500 yen ($101), while child tickets cost 8,600 yen ($56) to 9,600 yen ($62).

Tokyo Disney Resort opened a similarly short window for park hopping in the summer, with guests briefly able to visit Tokyo DisneySea’s newest land, Fantasy Springs, on the same day as iconic Tokyo Disneyland attractions such as Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, Splash Mountain (the last remaining version in the world), Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek, and The Happy Ride with Baymax.

The resort is also known for its post-pandemic operational changes. Tokyo Disney Resort has not offered annual passes for years, and although their return has been hinted at several times, sales have not resumed. As a result, all guests — from frequent visitors to first-timers — must purchase individual park tickets.

Even with reported capacity reductions, both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have developed a reputation for heavy crowds since COVID-19. In theory, eliminating annual passes helps prevent local regulars from visiting daily and further increasing congestion. For that reason, many fans believe annual passes may never fully return.
