Stranger Things is over — at least in its original form. The hit Netflix series, which started in 2016 and spawned a multimedia franchise that includes comics, novels, VR, tabletop games, mobile games, stage plays, and walkthrough experiences, concluded on the streamer on December 31 (New Year’s Eve), as well as in hundreds of theaters across the US and Canada.

But where does the franchise go from here? Well, the bad news is that, despite fans launching a petition demanding an “extended cut” of Season 5, and the viral “fake ending” theory claiming that a “secret episode” was coming, the main flagship series is well and truly done. The good news, however, is that there’s plenty more to come from the Upside Down.

From new episodes to behind-the-scenes documentaries, tie-in novels to video game expansions, and animated TV shows to live-action spinoffs, here are all the new Stranger Things installments, some of which have already arrived, with the rest coming very soon.

“One Way or Another”

A new Stranger Things book titled “One Way or Another” was released on December 2, 2025. Written by Caitlin Schneider, the tie-in novel follows previous titles such as “Stranger Things: Suspicious Minds” and “Stranger Things: Flight of Icarus”. This time, the focus is on Nancy and Robin, who are played in the series by Natalia Dyer and Maya Hawke.

“Following the events of Stranger Things: Season 4, Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley are hot on the heels of a new mystery – and they won’t stop until they solve it,” the official synopsis from Penguin Books reads.

“One Way or Another” is now available at all major bookstores and retailers.

Stranger Things Flight Simulator

In December, “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” released a Stranger Things add-on. As revealed in the trailer, the experience puts players in the aftermath of the Season 4 finale, where Vecna tears Hawkins down the middle with a supernatural earthquake.

“Enter the world of Netflix’s Stranger Things and explore the faithful recreation of Hawkins,” the official synopsis reads. “Two iconic franchises have come together to combine the authenticity and realism of ‘Microsoft Flight Simulator’ 2024 with the exciting, mysterious world of Stranger Things. Think you have what it takes to fly a Bell UH-1H Huey and help the residents of Hawkins in their latest encounters with the Upside Down?”

The Stranger Things add-on is now available.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85

The first of two Stranger Things TV spinoffs is coming to Netflix this year — Tales From ’85. Though we’re yet to get an official trailer, Netflix released a featurette-style teaser late last year, which features clips from the upcoming series and commentary from the Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross Duffer, and new showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles.

Set between seasons 2 and 3, Tales From ’85 is a 3D animated series heavily inspired by Saturday morning cartoons, with The Real Ghostbusters (1986–1991) having served as the creative team’s “north star”. It features Will, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Eleven, along with many other familiar faces, in new stories with terrifying new monsters.

None of the original actors are returning — the characters will be voiced by an entirely new cast that includes Brett Gibson as Jim Hopper, Luca Diaz as Mike Wheeler, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven/Jane Hopper, Braxton Quinney as Dustin Henderson, Elisha Williams as Lucas Sinclair, Ben Plessala as Will Byers, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max Mayfield.

Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 will premiere on Netflix sometime this year.

Untitled Live-Action Spinoff Series

In a recent interview with Variety, the Duffer brothers confirmed that a live-action Stranger Things spinoff, which is now in development, will “delve into” the origins of the mysterious “briefcase rock” revealed in the Season 5 finale.

In “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up”, we finally learn where Henry Creel (Vecna) got his powers: from an alien rock inside a briefcase that belonged to a scientist he murdered in a cave; an event that set in motion the entire Stranger Things story.

“The spinoff is going to delve into that [the briefcase rock] and explain that, and you’re going to understand it,” Matt Duffer revealed. “But it’s a completely different mythology. So it’s not a deep exploration of the Mind Flayer or anything like that. It’s very fresh and very new, but yes, it will answer some of the loose threads that are remaining.”

“It’s very exciting to work with a clean slate: completely new characters, new town, new world, new mythology,” he continued, before adding that there will be “no common characters” with the main Netflix series.

Though it’s not confirmed, it sounds like the spinoff could be set in the 1950s like The First Shadow. The award-winning stage play serves as a prequel to the events of the Netflix series, taking place in 1959 where the story follows a young Joyce, Hopper, and Henry Creel.

There’s no release date for the live-action Stranger Things spinoff series.
