One Disney resort has been slammed by a massive recall this month.

Disney parks typically operate with the kind of streamlined magic that only comes with years of experience, but even Mickey Mouse isn’t immune to the occasional hiccup.

Over the years, we’ve seen parks impacted by everything from hurricanes and typhoons to oil spills, power outages, and even rogue bears.

In late November and early December, Disney World has struggled with cold weather (yes, it’s possible in Florida), which forced the Orlando resort to temporarily shutter the water park Typhoon Lagoon.

Other recent disruptions have included an unexpected shutdown for Living with the Land: Glimmering Greenhouses at EPCOT and multiple lane closures for Disney Way outside Disneyland Resort after a crash.

Mass Recall Impacts Disney Park Resort

Now, another unexpected disruption has taken the shape of a mass recall at Tokyo Disney Resort.

According to Yahoo! Japan, the resort – which is owned by The Oriental Land Company – is recalling nearly 30,000 items sold at stores within Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

Specifically, it is recalling 29,363 Pocky confectionery items sold at Tokyo Disneyland stores, Tokyo DisneySea stores, Bon Voyage, the Tokyo Disney Resort app, and Tokyo Disney Resort’s official online store, DisneyStore.jp.

Ezaki Glico said earlier this month that it had identified a manufacturing issue that caused some products to have an unintended flavor and announced a recall affecting items including Pocky Chocolate and Pocky Extra Fine.

Oriental Land Company has insisted that the products are safe to consume despite having a spice-like flavor not typically associated with chocolate, and apologized for the inconvenience. Guests were directed to a special service center application form, with the company confirming the recalled products will be collected at a later date and refunded at the full product price.

Last November, Tokyo Disney Resort was hit by another recall for 4,240 of its Christmas-themed bottles. “A problem has occurred with some of the stainless steel bottles sold at merchandise facilities within Tokyo Disney Resort,” it wrote. “We deeply apologize to our guests for the inconvenience and concern caused.”

This was due to a defect in the opening of the drinking spout that caused the contents to leak out.
