An opening day attraction is allegedly facing either a replacement or a massive refurbishment at Universal Studios Florida.
First opened in 1990, Universal Studios Florida today is often overshadowed by its more thrill-focused sister parks.
While Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe may boast iconic attractions such as Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Stardust Racers, and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, Universal Studios Florida still retains its old-school Hollywood charm, which makes it a must-visit for theme park fans in the Orlando area.

Sadly, the vast majority of the park’s opening day attractions have since shuttered. In fact, the only attractions that opened in 1990 and still operate today are E.T. Adventure (which you can prise from our cold, dead hands) and Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show.
But if a recent rumor is to be believed, this could soon change.
A video posted on TikTok by @funtimefreddyvlogs has sparked fear in the theme park community after discussing recent reports that Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show is on its way out.

The show is currently performed every day at Universal Studios Florida and demonstrates how make-up and special effects artists craft the creepy characters seen on the big screen. “Featuring movie clips, props, and interactive demonstrations, this experience offers fascinatingly funny insight into the moviemaking process,” says Universal Orlando Resort.
Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show hasn’t changed much over the years, apart from a few tweaks to cover CGI and computer visuals. That (and the fact that some Universal guests don’t even know that it exists) is exactly why some guests are so concerned about its future.
“The script has been word for word the same for 15 years,” wrote one TikTok user. “It wouldn’t cost a penny to let the team punch it up a little every now and then. letting fruit rot on the vine…”

Others agreed, with one user writing, “I mean the video needs to be updated, the script should be updated a little, the lobby should show some newer movies.”
Particularly concerning to fans is the theory that a Five Nights at Freddy’s experience would replace the show. The horror franchise has already become a staple of Halloween Horror Nights, but not everyone is happy with the idea of it arriving in the park on a permanent basis.
“If FNAF takes this over that will be so sad,” said one TikTok user. “This show is fun cause the variety of people hosting it feels different and funny every time and there’s also a warm nostalgia feeling.”
Upcoming Closure Slated For Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show
Universal has yet to comment on future plans for Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show.

A closure is currently slated for January 6, 2026, with no fixed reopening date.
However, it seems unlikely that Universal would leave it so late to confirm a permanent closure for the show, with past closures – such as Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and Shrek 4-D – announced far enough in advance to allow guests to say goodbye.
