Few things can really put a damper on a Disney World vacation. With so many incredible rides, attractions, meals, shows, and other experiences to enjoy, a morning, day, or night at “The Most Magical Place on Earth” is (almost) always perfect.
One of the most common problems guests will run into is ride closures. While not a problem exclusive to the Disney theme parks, there are several attractions currently closed across Disney World and Disneyland. One of the heaviest hitters on this list is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
The classic wild west-themed roller coaster closed for an extensive refurbishment at the Magic Kingdom back in January, and won’t reopen until 2026. Other attractions, like Tom Sawyer Island, Liberty Square Riverboat, and most of DinoLand U.S.A., are all out of commission permanently, as Disney continues to revitalize certain areas across the resort.
However, a much more common issue guests will face during their trip to Walt Disney World is the weather.
A new severe weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Orange County and its surrounding areas, which includes Walt Disney World Resort. The warning will begin at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, and will continue through 9:00 a.m.
Travelers and those living in the area can expect cold gusts of air and wind chills as low as 25°F. The actual temperature is expected to drop into the high 30s on Tuesday.

While unconfirmed, it’s possible that select Walt Disney World locations, like Typhoon Lagoon, will close due to the cold weather. Disney’s Blizzard Beach is already closed for refurbishment, but those hoping to make a splash at Typhoon Lagoon will want to keep a close eye on the water park’s operating hours.
Universal Orlando Resort opted to close its Volcano Bay Water Park today and tomorrow due to the harsh conditions.
However, things are forecast to flip back around as the week continues. Guests can expect highs in the 60s and 70s throughout the week. Sunday will see temperatures rebound back to the high 70s.
As stated, a lot is changing at Walt Disney World. Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios are all set to see major expansions, with new lands, rides, attractions, and locations on the way.
One of the newest attractions to open at the resort is Zootopia: Better Zoogether. The 4D theater show replaced It’s Tough to Be a Bug at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which was found inside the park’s central Tree of Life.
