The Disney World construction spree has taken over the parks. Major construction projects have forced the erection of walls at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. That leaves EPCOT as the odd park out.

EPCOT spent years under construction as Disney created the new CommuniCore Plaza and Hall and the recently reopened Test Track. But while Disney updates or closes attractions across the parks, EPCOT fans are looking at attractions at their favorite park that desperately need some love.
Fans look at the Seas with Nemo and Friends as one of those attractions that desperately need some love, but the attraction that needs it more is Journey Into Imagination Featuring Figment. However, Disney just made a minor change to Journey Into Imagination that could hint at a larger overhaul.

This week, Disney removed one of the Figment animatronics and replaced it with another animatronic with less movement and a “cheaper” look. The original Figment was removed from just outside the touch and taste labs and replaced with an older-looking figure.
While the new Figment is wearing the same yellow sweater, it does not have the same movements as the original animatronic. While this could be a temporary fix to the original animatronic, it could point to a larger project coming to the beloved ride.

It’s been 23 years since this version of the ride opened, and the time has come for a refresh. Perhaps even a return of the Dreamfinder to the attraction to bring it back to its original glory.
However, Disney has not made any announcements about a major refurbishment coming to the beloved attraction. So, as of right now, it does not appear that a major overhaul is in the works.

For now, Figment fans must settle for an updated Figment animatronic instead of the refurbishment they’re looking for. Maybe Disney will have a surprise for them soon. We’ll see.
