A child’s outburst reportedly stopped a “brawl” in line for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. Here’s what you need to know.

In 2022, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind premiered in the World Discovery neighborhood at EPCOT. Immediately, the attraction sparked complaints from Disney Park guests. Strangely, the frustration had nothing to do with the pricey Lightning Lane, the Virtual Queue system, or even the ride itself, but centered around a trend among other Walt Disney World Resort visitors.

During the first pre-show, the Centurion Tal Marik character (played by Terry Crews) informs guests that they’ll be traveling from EPCOT to Xandar via one of the fastest transportation systems in the galaxy. At one point, he asks if anyone knows what citizens of EPCOT call themselves. In response, adult Disney Park guests often yell, “alcoholics,” referencing the popular “Drinking Around the World” tradition.

The joke grew old–quickly. Three years later, it’s what many Disney Parks fans associate with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and many guests enter the line pre-cringing in secondhand embarrassment over the popular outburst. However, “alcoholics” isn’t the only thing that guests yell during the attraction’s pre-show.

In September, Reddit user u/slimon_klep shared that a young child had made everyone laugh by yelling “chicken nuggets” when Centurion Talk Marik asked what the people of EPCOT called themselves.

“I was ready to brawl with whichever middle aged man was going to scream alcoholics,” the Disney Park guest said. “That kid made my night.”

In response, dozens of Disney Parks fans shared their favorite Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind pre-show outbursts from kids.

“One time when I rode, after ‘Does anybody know what they call themselves?’ Some child just said ‘no,’” u/DrOddfellow replied.

“We went on Cosmic Rewind 9 times on our recent trip and I was cringing every pre-show waiting for someone to say it…luckily never happened, most times people didn’t say anything but there was one time a little kid yelled ‘Meeple!’” said u/faffinwaffin.

u/tracysmullet recalled hearing a child have a “full on convo with Terry:”

It was actually hilarious. It went like this-

Terry- “Does anyone know what they call themselves?”

Kid- “No, and by the way, you’re on.”

Terry- “What? I’m on?”

Kid- “Yeah, you’re on.”

Terry- “Someone needs to tell me when I’m on!”

Kid- “I literally just did two seconds ago!”

It was honestly impressive cause he had the timing of the responses down to a science
