Magic Kingdom Will Deny Access to Guests for the Rest of August

If you’re hoping to visit Magic Kingdom this August, you may need to reconsider your plans.

As the most visited theme park on the planet, Magic Kingdom is, unsurprisingly, busy. The OG Disney World theme park typically boasts sizeable lines, even during the so-called “off season” (which, let’s face it, hasn’t really existed on Orlando’s theme park scene since COVID-19).

Some attractions are more popular than others. Newer additions to the theme park – such as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (which controversially replaced Splash Mountain last year) and TRON Lightcycle / Run – often generate the longest lines, while classics such as Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean can also rack up lengthy wait times.

That’s what makes Disney’s ticketed events so alluring. The likes of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party not only offer exclusive entertainment, merchandise, and dining options, but they also promise shorter queues after the park’s regular operating hours.

There’s been some backlash in recent years that Disney is setting the price tags too high for these events. This year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, for example, ranges from $119 per adult to $229 per adult.

Fans have also noted that this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – which started on August 15 – is selling at a slower pace than previous years, as is its corresponding party on the West Coast, Oogie Boogie Bash.

While the latter party has now sold out for Disney California Adventure Park, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party still has several dates available. As of today, however, the party has officially sold out for the rest of August.

Parties on the following dates are sold out:

  • August 15
  • August 17
  • August 19
  • August 22
  • August 24
  • August 26
  • August 29

This means guests without party tickets will be turned away on those evenings. Day visitors without a ticket must also exit early, as Magic Kingdom closes at 6 p.m. ahead of the 7 p.m. party start.

Other sold-out dates include:

  • September 5
  • September 9
  • September 12
  • September 19
  • October 7
  • October 9
  • October 10
  • October 31

If you haven’t managed to secure a ticket yet, the good news is that plenty of other dates are still available in September and October. That means you can still secure your chance to watch Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, the fireworks show hosted by Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Other highlights include the Sanderson Sisters casting magic in the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular on the Cinderella Castle Stage, plus dance parties dotted around the park, including ZOM-BEATZ BASH and the Disney Jr. Jam in Tomorrowland.

You can also find The Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet singing group in Frontierland, and an array of spooky-themed food, such as the Madame Leota Séance Candle, Skull Meatloaf, and the Magic Potion Slushy.

Guests have complained about the lack of variety at this year’s event, especially given the soaring ticket prices. With the event selling out at a considerably slower rate than in years past, this may be a sign that Disney has finally reached the ceiling of how much even diehard fans are willing to pay for a premium Disney World experience.
