Walt Disney World is home to tons of rides and attractions. From classic dark rides like Pirates of the Caribbean to thrilling modern roller coasters like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during their time at “The Most Magical Place on Earth.

While it might be easy to assume Disney World is geared more toward children, the resort still packs quite a punch in terms of thrills and chills. Rides like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad have delighted and entertained riders for decades.

Newer roller coasters like TRON Lightcycle / Run are also incredibly thrilling and intense. However, there’s one attraction that stands tall above the rest of the resort: Summit Plummet. This anxiety-inducing water slide sends guests “plummeting” down a 120-foot drop as they reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.

The slide requires guests to be at least 48 inches tall, matching TRON Lightcycle / Run’s height requirement, which is the strictest in all of Walt Disney World.

Disney World is home to two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Each park features its own impressive selection of water slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, and other attractions.

Disney’s second water park, Typhoon Lagoon, opened in 1989. River Country, Walt Disney World’s first water park, opened in 1976 and ran until it closed in 2005. Blizzard Beach opened in 1995.

While Other rides like the Tower of Terror and Rock’n’ Roller Coaster are quite intense, it’s hard to compete with Summit Plummet for a number of reasons. Firstly, a water slide is a lot different than a roller coaster car, as there are no seatbelts or straps of any kind. This adds to the overall intensity of Summit Plummet.

Second, there’s no other ride at Walt Disney World that drops guests this high at this steep of an angle. Water slides also have an added feeling of danger, as it’s just you, the water, and gravity.

Summit Plummet certainly isn’t for everyone, though it’s an incredibly fun experience for those brave enough to take the plunge.

While Walt Disney World is home to a ton of rides and attractions, one stands above the rest in terms of its intensity.
