It’s not every day that Walt Disney Imagineering opens the curtain for a behind-the-scenes peek, but when they do—fans listen.
This week, Imagineers gave Disney fans a first glimpse inside The Beak and Barrel, an all-new experience coming to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, and it’s already clear that this isn’t your average theme park bar. It’s a full-on pirate tavern—complete with show moments, storytelling, and a few magical surprises brewing behind the bar.
While the main Pirates of the Caribbean ride is still sailing strong just steps away, this upcoming addition is meant to deepen the world guests already love. And from what we’ve seen so far, the team at Disney is pulling out all the stops to make sure this spot feels just as immersive as the classic attraction that inspired it.

A Pirate’s Pub Like No Other
Set to open in late 2025, The Beak and Barrel isn’t just a lounge—it’s a story-rich hideaway that brings the pirate lore of Adventureland to life in a new way. According to Disney’s official description, the tavern was founded by the legendary pirate rumrunner Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn. Her trusty first mate? A wisecracking parrot named Rummy, who keeps a watchful eye from above the bar.
If Rummy looks familiar, you’re not wrong. He’s modeled after the old “Barker Bird” who used to perch at the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean before mysteriously vanishing years ago. Now, he’s back—and apparently has a lot to say.
Imagineers Offer a Sneak Peek
The recent sneak peek shared by Imagineering showcased two key areas inside the tavern: the Captains’ Booths and the Mapmaker’s Room. These themed sections are designed to feel like places pirates would’ve actually gathered—messy, candlelit, and full of character.
The heart of the tavern is known as “The Mess”—once a Spanish soldiers’ dining hall and now repurposed for rowdy pirate feasts. A massive anchor drips with melted wax above the communal tables, and the bar itself is built from parts of a wrecked ship, anchored (no pun intended) by a skull-shaped stern.

And it wouldn’t be a Disney bar without a little enchantment. Keep an eye out for the Enchanted Rum Bottle, a gift from none other than Tia Dalma, the voodoo priestess from the Pirates film series. It’s said to be the mystical source of the tavern’s signature brews.
More Than Just Drinks
The Beak and Barrel isn’t just about sipping grog. It’s meant to be an experience. Guests will be able to enjoy live storytelling, pirate sing-alongs, and what Disney calls “enchanting surprises.” Inside the Captains’ Quarters, for example, guests might spot slashed paintings, mysterious scorch marks, and a fireplace that holds a shelf of tiny ships in bottles—rumored to battle one another when no one’s looking.
The entire experience will last 45 minutes per party, giving you just enough time to soak in the atmosphere (and maybe one or two cocktails) before heading off to your next Adventureland escapade. And yes, Disney is enforcing a two-drink maximum per guest, as this is still a family park.

Coming Soon to Adventureland
While there’s still no official opening date yet, The Beak and Barrel is definitely one of the most anticipated additions to Magic Kingdom this year. It’s a rare mix of nostalgia, immersive storytelling, and fresh entertainment—something longtime Disney fans and new visitors alike will want to experience.
So whether you’re a seasoned buccaneer or just dipping your toes into pirate life, this new spot looks like it’s going to be worth the wait. Grab your crew, practice your best “Arrr!”, and keep your eyes peeled for that Enchanted Rum Bottle. Something tells us The Beak and Barrel is going to be a legendary addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean legacy.
